[BALI] Pison Petitenget is one café that’s managed to stay relevant in Seminyak’s ever-evolving coffee scene.
Opened in 2014, Pison was one of the early cafés that helped define Bali’s modern coffee culture.
It built its reputation on strong brews, well-executed brunch food, and a relaxed atmosphere that never feels forced.
Over the years, it’s expanded into a small chain with outlets in Ubud, Jakarta, and Labuan Bajo.
Still, the Seminyak branch remains its heart.
Located along the busy Petitenget stretch, Pison sits behind its red-brick façade with large glass panels and leafy details that make it both industrial and tropical at once.
Inside, it’s all high ceilings, wood, and warmth.
The crowd is a familiar blend of locals, digital nomads, and travellers doing their best to look casual while secretly snapping their lattes for Instagram.
The menu presents brunch with an Asian twist, and it is pretty extensive.
Breakfast dishes include Smashed Avocado (IDR 78K), Egg’s Benedict (IDR 80K) with smoked ham and hollandaise, House Cured Salmon Bagel (IDR 79K) with herb cream cheese and gravlax, and the Corn Fritters Stack (IDR 85K) layered with bacon and avocado purée.
I went with the Turkish Eggs (IDR 95K), which came with a poached egg sitting on Greek yoghurt, drizzled with chilli oil and served with a cheese toastie on the side.
The contrast between the cool yoghurt and the warm, runny egg worked well, best to be dipped with some of that toast.
The chilli oil added a subtle kick, but it didn’t overpower the dish.
Coffee lovers can pick from Espresso (IDR 30K), Flat White (IDR 39K), Iced Latte (IDR 50K), or the playful house specials such as Espresso Avocado (IDR 60K) and Espresso Matcha (IDR 58K).
Speaking of which, I tried the famous Espresso Avocado (IDR 60K) and the Dirty Coffee (IDR 55K).
The former, a mix of espresso, avocado juice, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate syrup, was velvety and almost dessert-like.
The Dirty Coffee, made with a shot of espresso over cold milk, had a creamy smoothness and a slightly smoky edge.
Thankfully, they also offered a not-sweet ‘zero’ version.
If you come to Seminyak Bali for the beach but stay for the brunch, chances are you may end up at Pison at least once.
And when you do, you’ll understand why it’s managed to stay in the conversation after all these years.
The fact that it stays open till 1am certainly helps.
