[BALI] Sea Circus in Seminyak is one of those cafés you walk past, and cannot help but notice.
The colourful murals, fairy lights and bright décor shout “holiday in Bali” before you even step in.
The décor is unapologetically colourful.
Walls are striped in coral pink and white, while framed travel posters of Bali landmarks line one side.
Turquoise counters curve around the bar, topped with neat rows of spirits and coffee gear.
But beyond the playful design, this café has been running for over a decade, and that staying power in Seminyak’s competitive food scene says something.
Side note: there is also Neon Palms (brunch-style and modern Australian / fusion food) which sits just next door from Sea Circus, above the Bali Boat Shed boutique. They all have the same ownership.
The menu is as varied as the décor.
From the taco bar, there are Pulled Pork Tacos (IDR 75K), Pulled Jackfruit Tacos (IDR 55K), Baja Fish Tacos (IDR 95K), and Beef Taco Brisket (IDR 90K).
I tried the Baja Fish Tacos and found them pretty much straightforward.
The barramundi was fried with a light coating, flaky inside, and the tartare sauce added tang to keep it from feeling heavy.
Main choices range from Fish and Chips with tempura barramundi (IDR 95K), Jamaican Spiced Chicken with roasted carrots and broccoli (IDR 110K), Sumatran Beef Rendang with coconut rice and emping crackers (IDR 160K), Spicy Prawn Linguini with cherry tomatoes and chilli oil (IDR 135K), and Beef Ribs Boneless with mushroom and BBQ sauce (IDR 220K).
The Spicy Prawn Linguini (IDR 135K) looked good on the menu and arrived with generous prawns, cherry tomatoes, and the expected drizzle of chilli oil.
The prawns were cooked well (though smaller than expected), but the sauce lacked depth. It carried warmth but little else, and after a few bites it felt flat. It was fine but somewhat forgettable.
Staff kept things cheerful, and service stayed efficient enough.
Sea Circus delivers familiar comfort food, smoothies and cocktails in a setting that is colourful, energetic and very Bali.
You might not remember every dish weeks later, but you will remember the vibe and the photos you took inside.
