Originally established in Kyoto in early 2024, it has expanded its presence to Singapore, with a new outlet at Beach Road.
The team is also behind Kurasu at Waterloo Street.
Stepping into 2050 Coffee does feel like entering a sleek, futuristic cafe.
The smooth concrete-grey walls and floors create a calming backdrop, while the curved counters and glowing light panels give the space an ultra-modern vibe.
The layout is open and airy, with seating that blends seamlessly into the design.
Vibes? quite effortlessly cool.
Good to know that the café aims to address the challenges posed by climate change on coffee cultivation, as there are predictions indicating that half of the land used for Arabica coffee could become unusable by 2050.
Therefore, the café partners exclusively with farms that practice regenerative agriculture methods, ensuring that the coffee beans are ethically sourced and produced.
What’s also special is that you’ll find a variety of batch brews served on taps.
This is alongside specialty drinks made using the Eversys Cameo C’2ms Super Traditional espresso machine.
The menu at 2050 Coffee features Tap Coffee ($7.50), Espresso ($4.00), Americano ($5.50), Matcha Latte ($7.50), and Cascara Coffee Cherry Tea ($7.00).
Latte options include Premium ($7.00) and Regular ($6.50), alongside customisable additions like Soy or Oat Milk (+$1.00) and discounts for bringing your own tumbler (-$0.50).
All in all, the prices are slightly higher than the average café in the area.
I was most curious about the four types of coffee on tap.
The Ethiopia Natural ($8.50, hot only) started with refreshing brightness, with the passionfruit and cardamom shining through.
As the coffee cooled, the flavours deepened, with the fermented fruit adding a subtle complexity. I liked it, as it wasn’t overly acidic.
As for the Burundi Anaerobic Fully Washed ($8.50, iced only), the sip is smooth and vibrant with berries, dried fruits, and chocolate notes.
The coffee maintains a light-medium body, with a crisp and vibrant edge.
The combination of futuristic aesthetic, quality offerings, and a strong commitment to sustainability creates a café experience that lingers in your mind even after you’ve finished your cup.
It’s a place that makes you think about the future, while enjoying your coffees in the present. Worth a go.
