MAVRX Coffee at Great World is a small, somewhat hidden coffee bar that has cultivated a reputation.
After a revamp, the coffee place has returned to its original location now at Unit 129, Level 1, next to the Central Office Lobby.
Oh yah, MAVRX is pronounced as “Mavericks”.
The name celebrates the idea of individuals who are original, creative, and experimental.
The refreshed setting offers a spot to enjoy the familiar aroma of freshly brewed coffee.
The modern-looking reddish-brown design, combined with sleek, horizontal lighting strips, creates a more contemporary atmosphere than its previous look.
The sleek counter design is punctuated by a tiled, earthy pattern at the base, and the bright, bold menu board adds a pop of colour.
Seating is casual though, with a few mini tables outside the coffee bar. So it is more a ‘grab-and-go’ place.
Coffee lovers can indulge in a range of options, starting with a simple Espresso ($4.50), Espresso Macchiato ($5.50), or Piccolo ($5.50).
For those who prefer milk-based drinks, the Latte and Flat White ($6.50), Cappuccino ($6.50), and Mocha ($7.00) are all available.
They use the Allpress Espresso Blend, sourced from Brazil, Sumatra, Colombia, and Guatemala. The house blend strikes a balance of caramel and cocoa, with a clean, crisp apple acidity.
I wanted something more refreshing, and had the Espresso Tonic ($7.50) that was perfect for hot afternoons.
Food-wise, the options are more limited and not particularly the highlight.
There is a small assortment of croissants like Butter ($3.60) and Chocolate ($4.10), alongside cakes like Lemon Pound ($5.70) and Banana Walnut ($6.00).
If you are expecting more from the food, it might not live up to the hype. MAVRX is a spot geared more towards coffee aficionados who don’t mind the no-frills, quick-service atmosphere.
