Katong is a favourite for food among the Easties, but how about Tanjong Katong?

The less talked-about ‘neighbour’ also offers comforting fail-safe local fare, a myriad of tantalising foreign cuisines, and cafes such as Supernova, Bella People & Coffee, Little Rogue Coffee, 6 Letter Coffee, and Flock Cafe.

But what’s good food without desserts?

Look no further because Juz Scooop (yeah, spelt with 3 ‘ooo’) aims to fill that gap (also the gap which is our stomach spaces reserved just for dessert).

It is a rebrand of an Ice Cream Parlor brand named Bing Bing, that was recently bought over.

You will see that the shop space also received a new lick of paint.

Comparatively to the previous simpler white, pink and black style, the new branding and interior shouts fun and friendliness.

Colourful and inviting, the store space would also more aesthetically pleasing for your social media photos.

In case you were wondering, for the other Bing Bing outlet in Hillview, the staff on duty shared that it will not undergo the same revamp yet.

For the menu, there were some changes from the previous shop, but remained standard in ice cream parlour offerings – scoops in cups which is priced at $4.40 for a single scoop, $7.80 for double.

Customers can also add $1.00 per scoop for premium flavoured cones.

A waffles with a single scoop would be $8.80, with additional $0.80 for the charcoal version.

Expect 12 flavours that can include Valrhona Chocolate, Belgian Chocolate, Rum & Raisin, Vanilla Bean, Pistachio, Strawberry, Earl Grey & Fig, Cookies & Cream, Avocado Gula Melaka, Sea Salt Caramel & Almond, Cappuccino Almond and Mao Shan Wang.

On the menu are also Ice Cream centred offerings, a few being Vanilla ($6.80), Avocado Gula Melaka ($8.80), Pistachio ($8.80) and Mao Shan Wang ($8.80) Juz Shakes; Ice Cream Cookie’wiches ($5.80); the Caramelly and Black & White Sundaes ($8.80 each) and more.

They also have coffee, tea, cold brew and chocolate beverage options.

If you are looking to celebrate an occasion, they have many cakes (both ice cream and non ice cream ones) on display.

I ordered the Waffle with Double Scoops of Ice Cream ($12.60), choosing Mao Shan Wang and Rum & Raisin for my ice cream flavours.

Thursday happens to be a promotion day for their waffles – if you get a waffle with double scoops, they have a promo which gives you one scoop free. (That’s $8.80 for a waffle with a double scoop of ice cream).

The Mao Shan Wang ice cream was decadent, made with real Durian Puree which wasn’t too sweet.

The Rum & Raisin flavour was well-balanced, and the taste of rum was pretty strong. In Juz Scooop I found the ice cream was creamy and well made, without being icy as some other brands might be.

The waffle itself was crispy on the outside, however more dense and cakey inside.

In spite of this, I felt that because the ice cream was light and not too sweet, it went well with the more-dense-than-normal waffle.

I enjoyed the Black and White Sundae ($8.80) which is Belgian Chocolate and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream with granola and chocolate sauce.

The granola gave the blend of two flavours an added texture and crunch.

The Vanilla Bean flavour, made with real vanilla beans, was very fragrant and you simply can’t go wrong with their luxurious Belgian Chocolate ice cream. I felt that this paired very well.

What surprised me was their Earl Grey Cold Brew ($4.80). The Earl Grey Cold Brew was a perfect accompaniment to the ice cream treats ordered.

The store makes it with orange juice, which gave it that extra citrus kick needed that normal earl grey tea does not have.

Juz Scooop has a captivating store interior, and definitely has been brightened up since its revamp.

This location makes it a possible spot for post dinner desserts, or if you stay in the area and would like a late-night ice cream treat as they close around midnight.

Specifically 12:08am.
