One way to spot quality and fresh Italian-style gelato is to look out for those kept in metal tins under the counter level covered with lids.

Lids are a good sign that imply that the gelato is carefully kept at the right temperatures.

One-North may not be an area you would specifically head to for gelato. But if you are in the vicinity, then look out for GelatiAmo found at the basement of Connexis.

The cafe is opened by Chef Loris Massimini of Ristorante Pietrasanta, designed in a breezy Mediterranean turquoise theme.

GelatiAmo’s gelatos are made with no premixes, colouring, or preservatives; churned using a special combi machine from Italy.

The gelato is priced at $4.20 per scoop, $7.80 for a double scoop, with an extra $0.80 charge per scoop for premium flavours.

Classic flavours include Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Earl Grey, Coconut with Choco Chip, Yogurt Strawberry, and Melted Butter Coffee. The stand-out is the Chocolate made with 76% cacao.

More premium flavours are the Pistachio and Ferrero Rocher. Also look out for seasonal specials, and I spotted Yogurt Raspberry, Cereal Milk Malt Puffs, and Grapefruit Prosecco Sorbet.

This can be paired with Handmade Butterscotch Cone (+$1) or Butter Waffles (+$5.80).

If you love your Pistachio gelato, then you probably would enjoy the ones here which are made from nuts roasted on-site.

There was still pleasant roasty aroma, and obvious fresh nutty flavour.

I also had the Hazelnut which was pretty smooth and with rich full body flavour, but I thought that the sweetness could be lowered down a notch.

Surprisingly, Fusionopolis does boosts of a number of interesting food finds, and this is one of them.
