Breakfast Grill has made its way to Guoco Tower, which feels like a very natural next move.
After East Coast and Lorong Kilat, the brand now has a CBD outlet for the Tanjong Pagar office crowd.

This outlet looks quite different from the Lorong Kilat one.

This space is bigger, brighter and more polished, with a tall glass frontage, pale wood tones, clean lines, and even a tree in the middle of the dining area.
There is still that Japanese leaning simplicity in the look, but everything feels a tad airier here.
Breakfast Grill’s thing is still its “sammies”, thick toast-pressed sandwiches filled with everything from eggs, bacon and cheese to deep-fried chicken, prawn patties, halibut and portobello mushrooms.
The menu includes All-Day Sammies such as Cheeses ($13.50), Croque Monsieur ($13.50), Counter Brekkie ($13.50), Cali ($14.50), Sunday Cals ($14.50), Magic Mushroom ($15.50), Chicky ($15.50), Chimifufu ($15.50), BFF ($21.50), and a weekend special of 1-800-Surf-N-Turf ($25).
I ordered the Classic Brekkie ($14.50) again, partly because this was the one I enjoyed.
The sandwich came with spiced pork sausage, bacon onion marmalade, scrambled egg, American cheddar and tartar sauce. But somehow, this round did not feel quite as hearty-warm as I remembered.
The bread was not as crisp, and the overall bite did not have the same warmth and contrast I had expected.
Maybe it was an opening phase thing, or perhaps this outlet was still settling into its rhythm.
The sandwich was not bad, but it did not quite give me that same “okay, this is why people come here” feeling.
Hopefully once the outlet settles in, the sammies will have that same crisp, warm and satisfying bite again.
That said, the Guoco Tower space is comfortable, bright and convenient, especially if you work around the Tanjong Pagar area.
