If you need yet another caffeine fix in the heart of the CBD, here’s another new choice.
Paco Coffee at The Sail @ Marina Bay is a small, professional setup located in the basement, designed specifically for the grab-and-go morning rush.
To be honest, being not that familiar with this part of CBD, it did take me a while to find the shop.
The takeaway space is fuss-free and efficient, featuring a bright orange counter that stands out against the clinical grey of the underground walkway.
The menu is lean and focused on their own roasted beans, currently featuring an Ethiopia Deri Hambela Wamena and a Colombia Granito De Oro.
The Ethiopia is a natural, sun-dried heirloom with bright berry and floral notes, while the Colombia is a 24-hour anaerobic washed Chiroso that offers a more complex, boozy profile with hints of peach and red tea.
A standard White Coffee starts at $5.30 (Hot) or $5.80 (Iced), while a Black is $4.80 (Hot) or $5.30 (Iced).
I tried the Pineapple Americano ($7.00) which sounded more unusual than the standard drinks. It was perhaps introduced for the Chinese New Year period?
We have seen orange, lemon and grapefruit appearing in our Americanos, so I thought pineapple was quite a unique take.
Not bad at all. It was a refreshing, tangy hybrid that paired a double espresso with pineapple juice. A great antidote to the afternoon humidity.
They also serve a Filthy Paco ($8.80), which features Biscoff double milk and a double ristretto for those who want a heavier, dessert-like hit.
Paco Coffee is another small business in the competitive CBD basement circuit, but it stands out by sticking to the technical fundamentals of roasting.
So far so good. It holds a 5-star Google review, though time will tell if that lasts.
