Molly Tea 茉莉奶白 has opened at Raffles Place, which means the CBD crowd now has one more reason to leave the office for “a quick drink” and return suspiciously later. Just kidding.
The Chinese tea brand first opened in Singapore at Orchard Central, where the queue felt never-ending during its launch days.
The wait can be pretty long, and took me about 80 minutes to get a couple of drinks during the weekends (always download the app to pre-order).
Now, it is bringing its floral milk teas to Singapore Land Tower, where office workers always need that extra boost.
Molly Tea started in Shenzhen and is known for flower-scented teas, especially jasmine-based drinks.
Instead of the usual brown sugar pearls, cheese foam or vibrantly-coloured fruit teas, the brand goes for a gentler profile.
Think jasmine, white champaca, osmanthus and gardenia, blended with milk, fruit or cream.
If you have difficulty deciding what to choose, the top six signature drinks are Premium Jasmine Milk Tea ($5.20), White Champaca Oolong Milk Tea ($5.20), Premium Jasmine Apple Milk Tea ($5.90), White Champaca Matcha ($5.90), Pistachio Jasmine Coconut ($6.20), and Snowy Jasmine ($6.50).
The Premium Jasmine Milk Tea ($5.20) is the obvious starting point, with jasmine-scented tea blended with milk, giving it a smooth and fragrant profile without going too heavy.
For those who want something easy to sip at the desk.
I actually preferred the Premium Jasmine Apple Milk Tea which adds apple to the jasmine milk tea base, giving it a brighter and more refreshing profile. Though it did feel sweeter for some reason.
For now, Raffles Place people has one more drink queue to deal with.
