The Level 7 of Bugis+ has undergone a total transformation that might catch you by surprise if you have not ventured to the top floor recently.
You might soon see this glasshouse-style café popping up on your Instagram feed.
(Not forgetting Singapore’s first interactive gaming restobar Sticks & Stones next door.)
Bloom & Boom is a vintage botanical sanctuary that feels like a quiet escape from the urban rush of Bugis below.
The café space embraces a “cottagecore” aesthetic with rustic furniture and delicate floral arrangements that make it look more like a European garden than a mall cafe.
What I found interesting is that it operates on a dual “floral days to tipsy nights” concept, meaning the vibe shifts from a bright brunch spot in the morning to a more mature restaurant setting once the sun goes down.
The atmosphere is quite calming, and it is a great place to hide away if you want to pretend you are in the countryside for an hour or two.
(I suspect the place would be crowded soon, so do reserve before heading down.)
During the day, the cafe focuses on a selection of delicate desserts and specialty coffee. This daytime menu includes the Litchi Rose Cake ($12.80), Chocolate Cake ($13.80), Berry Yogurt Bowl ($16), and Chocolate Waffle ($18).
Here’s more:
Berry Bavarois ($9.80)
This wobbly pink dessert has a light and creamy texture that balances the sharp tartness of the berries quite well.
I enjoyed the delicately-tangy flavour, though I suggest eating it quickly before it softens.
Chocolate Mousse ($13.80)
This arrived as a rich and dark mound topped with a thick layer of white cream. I liked the airy feel of this mousse contrasted with the deep cocoa hit.
Coconut Pistachio ($9)
To wash down the sweets, I had the Coconut Pistachio drink, which was a pleasant surprise, featuring a vibrant green pistachio cream layer sitting atop refreshing coconut water.
I would suggest trying the separate layers first, before mixing it all up.
As the sun sets, the venue shifts to its tipsy night identity with a menu of hearty pairing dishes and snacks.
This night menu features items such as the Pan-Seared Scallops with Pea Puree ($25.80), Spanish Seafood Paella ($39.80), Mediterranean Chicken Burger ($19.80), Black Truffle & Parma Ham Pizza ($27.80), and Basil Scallop Risotto ($25.80).
Applewood Smoked Australian M3 Angus Ribeye Steak ($52.80)
The steak arrived dramatically, presented in a rustic wooden box, revealing seared, sliced, and smoked ribeye accompanied by roasted potatoes and vine-ripened cherry tomatoes.
While the floral theme is the main attraction, Bloom & Boom at Bugis+ manages to back up the pretty visuals with an extensive range of food.
The prices are a little higher than your average café, but you are also paying for an environment that feels far more special.
Whether you are there for the pretty space, sweet treats or a full dinner, it is a gorgeous destination if you appreciate a bit of vintage flair with your meal.
