Most people stop their journey through Bugis+ at the lower retail floors or at the cinema, but Level 7 now holds a reason to take the lift all the way to the top.
Call this a ‘hidden gem’ if you may.
Sticks & Stones has arrived as Singapore’s first interactive gaming restobar, offering a mix of grilled food and social entertainment.
The space is large and airy, filled with hanging greenery and warm woven lamps that create a relaxed garden atmosphere.
It is designed for those who want a long, laid-back evening rather than a quick bite.
With a closing time of 3AM every day, it clearly targets the late-night crowd and groups of friends looking for a place to unwind after dark.
The menu ranges from light skewers to hearty mains, so you can snack or go all in.
You can head to the display (like a live market) to pick your favourite skewers, or order directly via a QR code.
The kitchen staff will grill the sticks for you, but I found the heater box provided on every table very useful for keeping the food warm.
This allows you to further heat your skewers just the way you like them while you socialise or enjoy the live music.
Plus, grilling your own skewers at the table adds a layer of entertainment to the dining experience. Here’s more on what you can look forward to at Sticks & Stones:
Signature Boneless Spicy Chicken ($15.80)
Other than sticks, you can order a main course like this La Zi Ji, which is packed with dried chillies and offers a sharp numbing heat.
It is a mountain of crispy chicken bits that makes for the great companion to a cold drink.
Grilled Unagi & Beef Rice ($18.80)
For those seeking something heavier, the menu also includes staple dishes and mains such as Japanese-style Unagi Pizza ($21.80), Braised Beef Noodle ($10.80), Cheese Ramyun ($9.80), and Chargrilled Pork Ribs ($21.80).
I had a Grilled Unagi & Beef Rice, which was like a blend of Japanese and Chinese elements, with a generous mix of glazed eel and beef over fragrant grains.
Snowflake Beef Cubes with Bell Peppers ($3.90)
These bite-sized cubes are quite tender and I liked how the peppers added a bit of crunch and sweetness after being grilled.
Snowflake Beef Ribs with Scallions ($3.90, min 2 pcs)
The rib meat has a richer flavour and slightly fattier texture than the cubes, and the charred scallions provide an aromatic contrast to the beef.
Pork Belly ($2.90, min 2 pcs)
I recommend dipping this classic skewer into the sweet-spicy sauce, Thai sauce (which works best for the pork belly), or chilli powder provided to enhance the flavour.
Chicken Mid-Joint Wings ($2.90, min 2 pcs)
These wings are juicy and well-marinated, making them a very safe and reliable choice for anyone at the table. They have a lovely charred skin that gives way to tender meat inside.
Remember to squeeze some lemon juice over.
Prawn ($3.00, min 2 pcs)
The prawns are simple and fresh, picking up a light smoky aroma from the charcoal grill during the cooking process.
They are already peeled to a certain extent, so you do not have to work too hard for your dinner.
Zucchini with Mentaiko ($2.00, min 2 pcs)
The creamy and slightly salty mentaiko topping is torched and balances the fresh zucchini slices. This was a surprise hit for me.
While the food is decent, the real draw of Sticks & Stones is the environment and the late-night accessibility.
Head over from 7pm or so onwards, and enjoy the live acoustic music sets.
The “Meet and Play” concept is central to the experience here, as the restaurant encourages socialising through interactive games.
It is not just a place to eat, but a venue where you can interact, dedicate songs, and linger over the night with friends.
Whether you come for the “Night Owl” hours or a casual dinner, Sticks & Stones at Bugis+ works best as a social space where grilled skewers, live music, and interactive games come together for a relaxed, hands-on night out.
