Unless you live in the immediate Bukit Timah neighbourhood, you might not have heard of this mixed-use development The LINQ yet.
Located near Beauty World, the development still has many dining units vacant as tenants slowly move in.
Offsite is one of those I wanted to check out, because it offers a dedicated menu of hearty, artisanal sandwiches and speciality coffee.
The location is not that difficult to find for anyone walking from the nearby Beauty World train station.
The space features simple wooden tables paired with sleek black stools.
A long counter serves as the focal point where baristas prepare drinks and the kitchen team assembles orders.
Sandwiches form the heart of the menu at Offsite.
Sarnies include the Portobello Melt ($16.50), Umami Pork ($18.00), and Burrata Deli ($19.00). Sourdough with house-made spreads starts at $6.00, with options such as kimchi nori butter, kombu truffle miso butter, banana PBJ, and strawberry balsamic with basil cream cheese.
I asked for recommendations, and there was a limited weekend special of Fish Otah Melt Sarnie. So, why not?
The sandwich brings the Muah flavour to the traditional toasted sandwich format, featuring a thiccccc and chunky piece of spiced fish layered with melted cheese.
The otah was aromatic and gently spiced, and stayed moist rather than pasty.
As for the sourdough, it arrived evenly toasted, sturdy without being dense, which mattered given the generous filling. Loved this combination, and hope it makes it to the main menu some day.
If you prefer something for sharing, the appetiser list includes Handmade Dumplings ($12), Buffalo Drumlets ($14), Sausage Platter ($15), Tofu Hummus ($17), Tuna Tataki ($20), Pork Collar ($20), and a Cheese and Deli Platter ($25).
Pastries rotate but often feature walnut chocolate sea salt cookies ($4.50), classic banana bread ($5.00), miso chocolate walnut banana bread ($6.50).
While the mall itself still has many empty spaces, Offsite provides a reason for people to visit.
The food provides plenty of satisfaction for those who appreciate a well-made sandwich.
