Korean instant noodle eateries are getting popular due to their combination of convenience, comfort, and customisation.

In Korea, such shops take the simple home comfort of Ramyeon and elevate it by offering a wide variety of noodle choices from different brands, along with an array of toppings and sides.

When I visited the CU Ramyun Library at Hongdae, it was obviously popular, operated 24/7.

How about Singapore?

Other than Seoul Bunsik 서울분식 at Far East Plaza, there is Slurp Mee which is said to be “Singapore’s first-ever instant noodle café”.

Located at Tessensohn Road near Farrer Park, this self-service café presents an assortment of over 70 types of instant noodles.

The packets feature those sourced from various countries including Korea, Japan, and Indonesia.

Tiny suggestion: I do think they can afford to include a couple of harder-to-find instant noodle brands, rather than those readily available at the supermarkets.

Starting from a base price of $3.50 for a la carte noodles, customers can also choose classic set ($7.90) includes a packet of noodles, 3 toppings and a drink.

You can add from a variety of toppings like cheese meatballs, fish dumplings, cheese tofu, crabsticks, chicken cocktail, and mushrooms.

But wait… no eggs? Of any kind? I suspect customers may be disappoint with that.

The café itself is designed with convenience in mind, featuring four easy-to-use cooking stations where diners can prepare their chosen noodle dishes to their liking.

While the concept is new in Singapore’s context, the café does have some limitations.

It is not opened late enough, which may disappoint those craving a late-night noodle fix.

Moreover, the seating capacity is limited, so finding a spot during peak hours might be challenging.

Still a fun and customisable instant noodle-dining experience.
