Nesuto has unveiled its second outlet, nestled within the bustling Jewel Changi Airport.
Translating to “nest” in Japanese, it continues its goal of melding Japanese finesse with French patisserie.
(The team used to own a Tamagoyaki shop, thus was affiliated with the ‘nest’ concept.)
While the first outlet graces Tras Street at Tanjong Pagar, this new locale brings its signature sweets to a wider, travel-enthused audience.
The cafe aims to provides an environment where travelers and locals alike can pause for a moment of indulgence amidst their journey.
However, I did find the space compact with limited seats, featuring a peculiar seating section (with somewhat uncomfortable stools).
The menu at Nesuto features an array of crafted sliced cakes, each harmonising distinct flavours.
Sliced cakes available when I visited included Japanese Goma ($11.90), Konichiwa Hōjicha ($11.90), Yuzu Raspberry ($11.20), Chocolate Orange ($11.20), Whiskey Chocolate ($11.90), and Matcha Chestnut ($12.90).
Slightly on the pricier side, but I guess because this is Jewel.
The Japanese Goma ($11.90) was one of the most popular choices, with airy chiffon sponge along with toasted notes of sesame.
Contrastingly, the Yuzu Raspberry Cake ($11.20) which has been there since the first store, introduced a bright and refreshing ensemble.
The slightly tart, citrusy charm of yuzu intertwined with a special meringue mousse, yielding a cloud-like, tangy sensation.
For those who prefer something light and refreshing.
My personal favourite was the Konichiwa Hōjicha ($11.90).
The cake consists of Hojicha ganache and Hojicha chantilly in between layers of Hojicha Soufflé Chiffon Sponge, topped with tea specks.
Enjoy the smooth creamy cake with the rich, roasted tea flavour with a hint of sweetness.
Jewel’s outlet has offerings of chocolate bonbons, which unveils another layer of Nesuto’s confectionery expertise.
Here, vibrant pairings such as Raspberry & Lime and Pistachio & Rose, as well as more nuanced combinations like Bergamot & Earl Grey and Smoked Dark Chocolate & Caramel, provide fans a chocolatey escape.
The space, much like a nest, provides a temporary perch where one can enjoy a brief, sweet respite before continuing on their journey.
