[Bangkok] Other Café at Soi Rangnam embraces the modern lifestyle and urban setting to deliver a coffee drinking setting like no other.

There is another outlet at King Power Mahanakhon, Mahanakhon CUBE (Chong Nonsi BTS) which I visited as it was more convenient for me.

It is both a café and a bar, with premium handcrafted coffee and beverages ready for you.

When you enter the café, it is hard to miss the urban minimalism influences.

Indeed, the creative director of Other Café outfitted the place with it in mind. The long and cantilevered counter seems to float within the space, enhanced by a “light cloud” made from a sculptural LED lighting element.

Choose a seat along the glass-tiled wall and admire the baristas while they whip up their original creations.

Using elements of desserts and other inspired ingredients, each brew is supercharged to become a whole new sensation.

The signature series has Thai Crispy Latte (120 THB), which is an espresso with Thong Muan, a Thai roller wafer almost like Singapore’s love letters.

As you drink the espresso, you get bits and pieces of crunchy sweetness to even out the sharp tastes.

Another recommended signature is the Kenzo Volcano (150 THB), a citrus coffee with milk that the menu helpfully labels as “taste like a dessert”. So the drink may taste custardy with a hint of orange.

Exclusive to the location is The Cloud (160 THB), a apple hazelnut coffee with creamy crème brulee milk foam. There is also The Cube (160 THB), a drink made from pouring salted milk over frozen cubes of cold brew concentrate.

The Cube is definitely interesting, with sweetness, saltiness, bitterness all in one.

The Original series, named after sneakers, is a puzzlement to the mind.

The Air Max (150 THB) is a coffee with yuzu that tastes like sparkling tonic, the Yeezy (150 THB) is a herbal tea that tastes like coca cola, and Ultraboost (150 THB) reminds you of cheese.

The bakery is much more straightforward – the Waffle (65 THB) is trusty, the Croffle (95 THB) is imaginative, and the little Cheesecake (95 THB). (As the bakes were not ready when I visited, I didn’t have them.)

Aside from setting itself apart from the run-of-the-mill cafes, Other Café is also eco-friendly.

This is the place to be if you are searching for something different while you are in Bangkok.
