You could walk past 9 Brew Coffee House in Paya Lebar Square without even noticing it.
It sits between a money changer and a clinic, hardly the glamorous setting you’d expect for a specialty coffee stop.
Yet there it is, a tiny shop with a couple of stools, a neat counter, and a barista who looks genuinely happy to talk about coffee.
If you are a fan, you may have tried their coffee in a humble home setup at Ubi previously.
The first thing you notice is that oat milk is the default here.
You can opt for fresh milk, but they make it clear they’re proud of their plant based focus.
Prices are straightforward. Espresso ($4), Black ($4.50), White ($5), Mocha ($6), Aerocano ($5), Filter of the Day (from $8), Off White ($6), Rose White ($6), Tonic Espresso ($6), Pink Soda ($6.50), Rose Milk ($5.50), and Chocolate ($6).
In case you are curious, Off White mixes espresso with vegan condensed milk.
Add an extra shot for $1.00.
I ordered an Iced Black ($5.50), which I usually do.
The first sip was bright, with a crisp acidity that hinted at a light to medium roast. It carried citrus and slightly fruity notes rather than heavy bitterness.
The shop is small. You sit right in front of the counter, with service that feels personal. Quite an interesting find in such a unassuming basement of a mall.
