Percolate has been a familiar name in Singapore’s café scene since 2014 (which is a long time considering how many cafés have closed since then.).
What began as a modest coffee spot in the heartlands of Bedok North grew into a well-loved hangout for residents and coffee lovers who made the trip east.
Unfortunately, the Bedok North outlet has closed (last day was 24th August 2025).
I am sure this comes with some sadness, especially for those who counted it as their neighbourhood go-to.
At the same time, Percolate has been expanding its reach, first with a branch at TANG Plaza in the centre of Orchard Road and at Far East Square.
The latest outlet at TANG Plaza takes on a very different form though.
Here, Percolate no longer sits as a full café but operates as a kiosk.
The set-up is streamlined and designed for the Orchard crowd, who are usually on the move. Instead of long tables and laptops, there is a clean counter, a tidy display of pastries and cakes, and a concise menu of coffees ready for quick service.
Even in this smaller format, the familiar Percolate touches are there.
Drinks start with espresso-based options such as Black ($5.50), White ($6.50), Mocha ($6.50), Coconut Latte ($6.50), Ginger Latte ($6.50), and Jasmine Latte ($6.50).
Coffee lovers can also try Flight ($9.50) or the Filter Brew of the Day ($9).
Flat whites remain smooth and balanced, and the coconut latte continues to stand out as a signature.
Cakes rotate but favourites like Pistachio Lemon teacake, Earl Grey Lavender teacake, 55% Dark Chocolate loaf, and Peanut Butter Banana cake often make an appearance.
In a way, the shift marks a new chapter.
The Bedok café gave Percolate its character and following, but the Orchard kiosk brings it to the heart of town.
