Mrs Pho House at Takashimaya basement 2 is a concept focusing on communal family-sharing style dishes and hotpot.

The chef behind the diverse menu is third-generation female Chef Linh from Vietnam, trained in various Michelin-starred restaurants in France and her very own mum – who is behind a famous crab noodle soup stall in Vietnam.

Taking into consideration smaller groups, Mrs Pho House has launched new Mini Hotpot menu and a new Hanoi Style Chicken Pho.

Also look out for the 2 Mini Hotpot for $19.90++ available from 27 – 29 July 2022.

Chef Linh wanted to serve familiar Viet “childhood food” seldom found in Singapore, many dishes with influences from Chinese and French cuisine.

As she stayed in Chinatown in Vietnam, she also saw how the community form deeper bonds over sharing and eating together over hotpot, and wanted to bring that over.

The Mrs Pho House Mini Hotpot are made for one or two persons and come in four signature delectable soups. Here’s more:

Seafood Crab Bisque Mini Hotpot ($26.90++)
Four soup bases headline the hotpot menu, prepared using Vietnamese herbs, spices and ingredients inspired by comforting Vietnamese dishes.

There is a special story behind this crab bisque soup: The recipe is from Chef Linh’s mother who owns a famous crab noodle soup (Bánh Canh Cua) stall in Vietnam. The stall has been around for over 30 years, with long queues almost every day.

The crab bisque at Mrs Pho House is made in-house using the same crab paste recipe, so you are getting a taste of that without flying over or queuing.

While I am rather familiar with the usual French-style of Crab Bisque soups, this was quite unlike that – you don’t get that explosive ‘bisque’ flavour but more mellowness. This can also allow the natural flavours of the ingredients to shine through.

The light creaminess was very appealing, and still rich with seafood flavours.

A mini-version is now available, and you can cook up prawns, scallops, fish maw and fish balls within (which is provided in the price), as well as Shimeji mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, premium cordyceps mushrooms, tomatoes and assorted vegetables.

Vietnamese Coastal Style Salmon Mini Hotpot ($19.90++)
This new soup base at Mrs Pho House cooks salmon in the signature Vietnamese coastal style for a sweet and sour broth for that delicate sweetness.

The Mini Hot Pot also includes sliced fish fillet, enlivened with tomatoes, pineapples, lady’s fingers, chilli padi and ample spring onions.

Other Mini Pot soups available include in the Pepper Pork Collagen ($22.90). Inspired by the Vietnamese green pepper pig stomach soup spun off from the large Teochew community in Vietnam, this nourishing soup is good to go with sliced pork belly and homemade meat balls in a collagen broth.

It is further sweetened by goji berries, watercress, carrots, Shimeji mushrooms, enoki mushrooms and premium cordyceps mushrooms.

There is also the Herbal Chicken Mini Hot Pot ($15.90) cooking up lemongrass brined chicken, fish maw, goji berries and assorted vegetables, with a medley of mushrooms adding earthy flavours.

Also available seasonally is a menu featuring the Claypot Rice with Caramelized Minced Pork with Lemongrass and Chili, and Crackling Roasted Pork with Fine Vermicelli.
