Ice cream cafes are heading towards an overdrive, with more and more (and more) opening up both in town and the heartlands.

Overscoop located at Yishun Junction Nine despite being a relatively new player, and has launched two more outlets at Orchard Central Level 2 (behind Dont Yell At Me BBT shop) and Hougang Rivercourt.

The ice cream café was first started by a young entrepreneur (maybe call her a cafepreneur) who took a leap of faith after graduation.

Unauthorized use and/or duplication of any content and photos without express and written permission from DFD is strictly prohibited.

Why call “Overscoop”?

As sampling is no longer allowed due to COVID-19, the cafe allows customer to try a different flavour of their choice through an additional complimentary mini ‘scoop’ of ice cream.

The dessert café at Junction Nine is considered rather functional and small, featuring an iconic waffle cone wall, with sweet items of waffles, croffles (croissant waffle), and gelato.

Oh, look out for the reverse cone-shaped light bulbs which are 3D printed.

A single classic scoop goes for $4.20, double scoop $8.00.

Classic collection flavours include Belgium Chocolate, Mint Chocolate Chip, French Vanilla Bean, Salted Caramel, Lychee Sorbet, Cookies & Cream, and Bubble Gum.

For something Premium at $1 extra, there are the English Earl Grey, Honeycomb, Strawberry Cheesecake, Rum & Raisin and Summer Berries flavours.

They also carry a wide array of unique flavours, including Mou Tai Liquor ($2 extra); and healthier options with no sugar added flavours.

According to the owner, their bestselling flavours are Strawberry Cheesecake, Honeycomb and Roasted Pistachio.

So the small ‘green’ thing you see top, is the free ‘overscoop’ of ice cream.

Before the two scoops I had, the Honeycomb was considered interesting-tasting and creamy, also coming with that sticky-chewy honey folded in between made the texture more varied. Not bad a choice

Read some online reviews that general flavours could have been more pronounced. I had that tiny bit of pistachio and would also agree I would prefer more of that deep nutty taste.

I enjoyed the crispiness of the waffles (in fact more crisp than the average ones around), but would prefer a fluffier interior.
