The café is now MUIS Halal certified, and the refreshed menu has grown quite a bit, with more than 30 savoury items all priced accessibly under $20.

Korean Spicy Marinated Egg with Scrambled Eggs Toast at Lucine by LUNA

This means it is no longer just “the LUNA place with some hot food”.

You can actually come here for a proper lunch or dinner now, whether it is egg toast, pasta, rice grain bowls, fried chicken, or cakes after.

Lucine by LUNA new savoury menu and cakes at 111 Somerset

I have always associated LUNA with desserts first.

Their Orh Nee Cake, Tofu, and Luna 2.0 are the kind of cakes I would still think about once in a while.

But with this updated Lucine menu, the savoury section feels more complete with actual meal options if you are in Orchard and need something more filling.

Here is a look at the latest savoury highlights from Lucine by LUNA:

Korean Spicy Marinated Egg with Scrambled Eggs Toast at Lucine by LUNA

Korean Spicy Marinated Egg with Scrambled Eggs Toast ($14.90)
This was my favourite new dish of the session, and it is easy to see why. It takes inspiration from the viral Korean “Mayak Gyeran” (drug eggs) trend, known for being irresistibly addictive.

You get fluffy scrambled eggs on soft, buttery toasted brioche, then jammy soy marinated eggs placed on top.

The important part is really the marinated egg. Without it, this might have been just another scrambled egg toast.

With it, the dish gets that savoury sweet depth, a little spice, and a runny yolk that makes the whole thing feel more daebak.

Cloud Egg Stack with overflowing egg mayo at Lucine by LUNA

Cloud Egg Stack ($15.90)
I think this Cloud Egg Stack is for people who really, really like egg mayo.

It comes with Harajuku-style eggs and an overflowing amount of egg mayo (so yes, the name is quite accurate). This was creamy, filling, and quite comforting in a soft sandwich kind of way.

But personally, I did wish the eggs here were marinated too, because that would have given it more flavour and made it more memorable.

Still, if you are the sort who always picks egg mayo from the sandwich shelf, you have to order this.

Superb Dry Laksa pasta with prawns fishcake and taupok at Lucine by LUNA

Superb Dry Laksa ($16.90)
This was another item I enjoyed more than expected. I am usually a bit cautious when cafés do “locally inspired pasta”, but this Superb Dry Laksa was quite satisfying.

The spaghetti was thoroughly coated in a rich house-made rempah (that provided this fragrant heat), with prawns, fishcake, and taupok that effectively absorbed the laksa essence.

The sauce had that familiar laksa aroma, but came across creamier and thicker, almost like the gravy had been reduced to cling onto the pasta. Truly “yums”.

Rose Pasta at Lucine by LUNA

Rose Pasta ($13.90)
The Rose Pasta is Korean-inspired, made with tomato sauce, cream, parmesan cheese, and linguine. This was more gentle compared to the Dry Laksa.

Creamy tomato pastas are quite safe and comforting by nature, and this falls into that category.

Pleasant, easy to eat, and probably suitable if you do not want anything too spicy or intense.

Seared Salmon rice grain bowl at Lucine by LUNA

Seared Salmon Rice Grain Bowl ($14.90 for Honey Garlic Soy, $15.90 for Truffle Mayo)
For something good for a balanced weekday lunch, there are wholesome rice grain bowls too, such as the Roasted Chicken Grain Bowl.

I had the Seared Salmon, served with rice, greens, cherry tomatoes, corn, and edamame. You know, the one you pick when you want to convince yourself you are eating healthier.

Crispy Breaded Chicken with fries and salad at Lucine by LUNA

Crispy Breaded Chicken ($16.90)
The Crispy Breaded Chicken came as a sizeable boneless thigh with a breadcrumb crust, served with fries and salad.

The crust had a decent crunch, and the portion was generous.

During my visit, the chicken itself was a little dry, so I wished it had been juicier. That said, the fries were pretty addictive.

Lucine by LUNA: A Destination for Café Lovers at 111 Somerset

Of course, Lucine still has the cakes.

The display includes petite cakes, entremets and tarts such as Luna 2.0, Tofu, Pure Pistachio, Matcha Opera, Citrus Slice, Pistachio Nut Crunch, Matcha Buckwheat and Oolong Passionfruit.

So even if you came for a proper meal, there is a high chance you may still end up pointing at the cake counter.

Orh Nee Cake Petite Bubbles and Yuzu Strawberry Shortcake Petite at Lucine by LUNA

Orh Nee Cake Petite ($8.50)
Still my favourite. This has vanilla sponge layered with yam ginkgo paste, then topped with coconut Chantilly cream, white chocolate pearls, and desiccated coconut.

I think what works for me is that it reminds you of orh nee, but does not become too dense or heavy.

Bubbles lychee yoghurt mousse cake at Lucine by LUNA

Bubbles ($9)
Bubbles looks cute and dainty, the kind of cake you order for the photo first. But this had more flavour than I expected.

Under the baby blue chocolate velvet spray are lychee yoghurt mousse, jasmine cream, bits of lychee fruit, and almond sablé.

The lychee came through quite clearly, while the jasmine added a gentle floral note.

Yuzu Strawberry Shortcake Petite at Lucine by LUNA

Yuzu Strawberry Shortcake Petite ($9)
This is strawberry shortcake, but with a brighter twist. There are fluffy layers of vanilla sponge, whipped mascarpone cream, fresh strawberries, and yuzu whipped ganache.

The yuzu makes a difference here, as the cake gets a refreshing citrus lift that cuts through the cream.

Good for those who like strawberry shortcake, but want something a little less predictable.

Yuzu Strawberry Shortcake Petite at Lucine by LUNA

The refreshed menu at Lucine by LUNA gives it a stronger reason to be considered for a full meal, not just coffee (like the Tiramisu Latte) and dessert.

For savouries, I would return for the Korean Spicy Marinated Egg with Scrambled Eggs Toast and the Superb Dry Laksa. For cakes, the Orh Nee Cake Petite still wins for me.
