Since 2015, On & On Diners has built a steady place for itself in the local catering scene by focusing on Halal-certified Nanyang and traditional flavours.
For fans of On & On Diners, good news as they have just their “All Time Signature Favourites” which is made even more affordable.
Priced at $128 ($139.52 with GST) good for 8 to 10 pax, while delivery is charged at a flat $35 islandwide.
In a market where catering costs are rising, this set feels aimed at keeping group dining accessible.
Here’s what you can get from the On & On Diners “All Time Signature Favourites” set:
Torched Mentaiko Scallops (complimentary)
The meal starts with Torched Mentaiko Scallops, which come as a complimentary extra in the set. It is not every day you see scallops thrown in as a freebie in budget catering.
The mentaiko sauce is creamy, and the light torching gives it a faint smoky edge that stops it from feeling too rich.
Truffle Seafood Capellini
The truffle smell hits almost as soon as the lid comes off.
The cold noodles are packed into individual cups and topped with roe and bits of seafood, making them an easy, fuss-free starter.
On & On Signature Favourites Platter
The fried items are bundled into the On & On Signature Favourites Platter, featuring Thai seafood rings and homemade seafood beancurd rolls.
My personal favourite here is the prawn paste chicken, which carries that light pungent (not too much), fermented shrimp fragrance.
The skin is surprisingly still crisp for delivered food and the meat remains juicy. Don’t forget about the Thai-style chilli dip.
Rice
For the rice, you can choose between Yang Zhou Fried Rice, Kampong Fried Rice, or the Classic Seafood Fried Rice we had.
It is a reliable base for the meal, filled with small prawns and bits of egg.
Noodles
On the noodle side, the options include Xing Zhou Bee Hoon, Wok Fried Seafood Hong Kong Noodles, or Wok Fried Hokkien Noodles.
We went with the recommended Laksa Lemak Goreng, topped with fish cake slices and fresh laksa leaves.
This dry version of laksa is coated in a spicy, rich paste that tastes strongly of dried shrimp, making it more flavourful than a standard bee hoon.
Monthly Special
The Signature Seafood Tofu Pot is the month’s special, clearly meant to make the menu feel a bit more premium.
The pot features homemade tofu, Chinese mushrooms, and shrimp, along with abalone and fish maw. The tofu is soft and sits in a thick, savoury gravy that has soaked up the earthy flavour of the mushrooms.
Vegetable
You can pick from Signature Curry Vegetables or Authentic Sambal Goreng, though we chose the Wok Fried XO Asparagus with Wild Mushrooms.
The asparagus is bright green and the XO sauce adds a savoury, umami kick (though we found it to be slightly greasy).
Poultry
The poultry section offers a variety of styles, from Thai Style Mango Chicken Cutlet and Buttery Salted Egg Yolk Chicken to Sweet & Sour Chicken with Tropical Fruits.
There are also more full-flavoured options like Teochew Style Braised Duck with Peanuts or a Classic Rendang Chicken.
As we had the Signature Nanyang Style Curry Chicken quite a number of times, it was our to-go-for default.
It is a coconut-heavy curry with a mild spice level that most family members can manage, and the chicken is tender enough to fall away from the bone.
Not forgetting the soft French loaf slices specifically for mopping up the thick gravy.
Seafood
The seafood course allows for a choice between a whole Premium Superior Soya Sauce Soon Hock Fish or the Tofu Prawns in Chilli Crab Sauce.
The prawns are already peeled (except the tail end), which is a massive relief as it avoids the mess of removing shells at the table.
The chilli crab sauce is thick and sweet, leaning more towards a tomato-based flavour than a fiery chilli kick.
The fried buns are the best part of the dish, acting as sponges for the sweet gravy.
Dessert
To finish, you can choose between Chilled Grass Jelly & Longan or the Chilled Ai Yu Jelly with Fruit Cocktail.
The latter works as a refreshing palate cleanser, served over plenty of ice with a slight citrus note that helps cut through the richness of the curry and laksa.
On & On Diners delivers a substantial amount of food for $128 (excluding delivery).
The portions are generous enough to satisfy 10 adults with ease. While some of the sauces lean on the sweeter side, the inclusion of premium items like abalone and mentaiko scallops makes the set feel like genuine value for money.
A practical choice for anyone hosting a group who wants variety without a massive bill.
