Brewth is one of those cafés you walk past in the office area and think, “Coffee, sure”.
Then you notice they also sell Sarawak Kolo Mee and do a double take.
At Skysuites @ Anson, it opens from 7am on weekdays to feed a steady stream of office workers who want something fast and filling.
The food and drinks are also considered reasonably priced in the middle of Tanjong Pagar’s glass-and-steel jungle.
For savouries, there were just two choices when I visited: Classic Kolo Mee ($7.90) and Crispy Chicken Kolo Mee ($8.90).
I chose the Crispy Chicken Kolo Mee ($8.90).
The noodles bounced with spring, slicked with just enough shallot oil to smell good without feeling heavy.
The egg was soft at the centre but could be a little shy on flavour, and the fried chicken tenders were decent with a mild garlic note.
The kolo mee may not rival bowls in Sarawak, but it was hearty and aromatic enough for a lunch break.
The coffee menu covers all the usuals, from latte, cappuccino, flat white, plus cold brew flavours like Blackcurrant Bliss ($5.50), Citrus Peach ($5.50), and Rose Grey ($5.50).
Interestingly, there was also a heritage series which keeps things familiar with Kopi O ($1.90), Ginger Tea ($3), and Masala Tea ($3).
Plus point: service is friendly, with staff who take the time to explain the noodle options and check in on your order.
They have mentioned plans to expand the menu, which should make future visits more interesting.
Judging by the five-star Google reviews so far, I am clearly not the only one who thinks they are off to a good start.
