Café Nesuto has always been known for its Japanese-French inspired patisserie.
The original Tanjong Pagar outlet built a following for delicate cakes that lean towards balance rather than sugar overload.
And wow. They have opened at ION Orchard (Level 4). This marks an expansion of their concept, not just in location but also in ambition.

Unlike the patisserie where the main draw is cakes and tea, the ION Orchard outlet brings a full all-day dining menu into the mix.
The café itself does not have walls, which means you can people-watch, or be part of the people-watched (also the realisation there were some moves like The Marmalade Pantry and Violet Oon).
The design leans on soft wood, warm lighting, and a curved counter.
The mains read like a modern European bistro with Japanese touches.
You can expect 24hrs Braised Beef Short Ribs ($38), Chicken Breast with Charred Corn and Greens ($22), Braised Miso Chicken Leg ($24), 43°C Confit Salmon Niçoise ($28), Cauliflower Noisette Risotto ($26), House-Cured Salmon, Fennel and Orange Salad ($26), and Wagyu Ragù Lasagne ($26).
Brunch options feature Spicy Scrambled Eggs on Toast ($12), House-Cured Salmon Egg Benedict ($25), Mushroom and Brie Croissant ($13), Egg Mayo and Comté Cheese Croissant ($12), Turkey Ham and Comté Cheese Croissant ($15), Vanilla French Toast with Maple and Seasonal Fruit ($16), and Nesuto’s Signature Quiche ($14).
The dessert section remains Nesuto’s backbone. Cakes are displayed in a chilled counter, as with their original outlet.
Signature slices rotate, and while the price varies, expect each to it in the $11 to $13 range.
Spotted some exclusives like Singapore Sling ($13), Passionfruit Vanilla ($12), Yuzu Raspberry ($12), along with classics of Japanese Goma ($13), and Konichiwa Hojicha ($12.50).
The Matcha Red Bean ($12) is listed as an ION Orchard exclusive, built from soft matcha sponge layered with smooth red bean cream.
The matcha provides the earthy note, the red bean lends sweetness, and together it is like a safe pairing that leans on familiarity.
Cakes remain the core identity, but the café is asking diners to see it as a full dining space.
It is a significant shift, and whether this move will resonate with Orchard diners remains to be seen.
