[Bangkok] Fancy a piece of Paris in Bangkok? Almost.
PAR RIS, tucked away in Ekkamai district, has a rustic French-inspired interior but sells Korean-inspired bagels.
It is not that near Ekkamai station (E7) though, about a 15-minutes walk. Or use a ride-hailing service for a quicker journey.
Loved the café’s white exterior which is like a little cottage.
Inside, the combination of cream-washed walls, wooden furniture, and exposed ceilings felt cosy but not overdone.
The arched wall framing the coffee counter added a distinctive touch, and the space felt like entering a children’s storybook.
The menu revolves around their homemade bagels, which are inspired by Korean-style bagels.
What’s the difference? These are softer and fluffier than their American counterparts.
Among the classic bagels, options include the Signature Plain Bagel (THB 75), Sesame Bagel (THB 75), Hokkaido Milk Bagel (THB 85), and Dark Chocolate Bagel (THB 85).
Special bagel creations include the Sweet Corn Hokkaido Milk Bagel (THB 240) and the Chocolate Cookie Bagel (THB 220), both offering a mix of sweet and savoury elements.
I tried their Sweet Corn Hokkaido Milk Bagel (THB 240).
The creamy sweet corn filling and caramelised corn topping were unexpected but worked so well together.
It does remind me of those found in popular Korean cafes.
Their beverage offerings are just as interesting, with options like the Peach Foam (THB 165), Yuzu Matcha Sparkling (THB 180), and the indulgent Bloody Chocolate (THB 180).
I was most attracted to the Pistachio Cream Coffee (THB 180).
It tasted better than it sounded. The nutty pistachio milk and syrup, combined with espresso, created a drink that felt luxurious.
The roasted pistachio bits added a pleasant crunch. And I would recommend giving the plain bagel a dip into the cream.
While the prices lean towards the higher side, I think the thoughtful presentation, vibes with loads of photo spots make it worth visiting, at least once.
