KYŌ Kohee is a Japanese-inspired café that offers somewhat of an escape from the fast-paced corporate world.
Known for its authentic Japanese matcha and quality coffee, this little café has quickly become a popular spot among CBD workers seeking a midday caffeine fix.
KYŌ Kohee has expanded and moved, and now operates two additional outlets: one at 112 Robinson and another at Asia Square Tower 1.
However, the limited seating and primary takeaway concept might require a bit of patience during busy hours, as there was a constant flow of customers both times I visited.
The café focuses on simplicity and quality, with a well-balanced selection of matcha and coffee drinks.
There was a constant flow of customers both times I visited, with many people behind the counter preparing the drinks.
Drinks on the menu include Black ($4.50), White ($5.50), Mocha ($6.50), Iced KYŌ Coffee ($6.90), Dirty Kuro Goma Latte ($7.90), Dirty Hojicha Latte ($7.90), and Dirty Matcha Latte ($8.90).
Non-coffee options are the Chocolate ($6.90), Kuro Goma Latte ($6.90), Honey Citrus ($7.90), Iced Honey Citrus Sod ($8.90), Chamomile ($4), and Mint ($4).
Beans are sourced from Allpress, and the latte had a medium body, rich chocolate notes without being too acidic.
The Iced KYŌ coffee ($6.90) which was an iced coffee latte with a twist turned out to be refreshingly enjoyable.
Before pouring the double espresso into the milk, they whisk a little of their house-made signature caramel sauce into the double espresso creating a foamy and creamy texture.
The burst of distinctive caramel flavour had a pleasant bitter-sweet lingering taste which paired well with the coffee beans’ chocolatey notes.
The tea series are specially imported from Japan, and included Matcha Okumidori Latte ($6.90) and Hojicha Latte ($6.90).
The Okumidori Matcha offered as both a straight matcha or as a latte, is made from specially imported Japanese matcha.
Celebrated for its rich and velvety texture, the Matcha Latte has a balanced sweetness that enhances its natural, earthy undertones.
A convenient spot for both early birds and those looking to enjoy a leisure coffee or Matcha during your afternoon breaks.
