I love tarts. Tarts have a special way of catching one’s eye with their intricate designs and promising a burst of flavour with every bite.
Am happy to find a new tarts place in town at ION Orchard.

Established in 2012, Patissier Woo is the brainchild of Melissa Woo, a Le Cordon Bleu trained chef. She worked in finance prior to setting up her patisserie.
Having lived and worked in Singapore, Bangkok and London, Melissa’s bakes are also influenced by the culinary traditions of these gastronomic paradises.
For this ION Orchard outlet, Patisserie Woo has partnered with Bynd Artisan, known for their finely crafted stationery.
This partnership brings a blend of culinary art and aesthetic craftsmanship.
Their signature products include Tarts, Cakes, Choux, Sables, and Gelato.
The tarts are made from scratch with premium Belgian butter and have a very distinctive crunch and fragrance.
Some of the best-selling flavours include Mixed Fruit, Chocolate Hazelnut, Dark Chocolate & Grand Marnier, Yuzu, Strawberry & Pistachio, to Passionfruit Meringue.
Each is priced from $9.50.
I left the choice-making (decision fatigue) to the jolly guy behind the counter (which I assumed was the husband), and was recommended a Sicilian Pistachio Tart ($10).
It features a fine pistachio ganache, airy pistachio sponge, and a crispy pistachio wafer, all encased in Patisserie Woo’s signature tart crust.
The top is sprinkled with caramelised pistachios, adding some crunch and a hint of sweetness. There was a strong pistachio flavour – for those who adore pistachios, the Sicilian Pistachio Tart is a dream come true.
Next time, I would get the Mixed Fruit Tart ($9.50) – a colourful celebration of seasonal fruits.
It is filled with freshly whipped Madagascan vanilla bean cream and topped with a vibrant selection of fruits, which vary according to what’s in season.
There are cakes such as Yuzu Mango, Strawberry Shortcake, Matcha Opera, Chocolate Raspberry, Mango Passionfruit, Black Forest, Lychee Raspberry & Rose, and Coffee & Baileys.
I was recommended another pistachio cake, the Dark Chocolate & Pistachio (they are proud of their pistachios).
This cake is a luxurious blend of 70% dark chocolate mousse and Sicilian pistachio ganache, layered with a light pistachio sponge.
My friend enjoyed the rich, deep tones of the chocolate, which harmoniously complemented the nutty, buttery flavour of the pistachios.
After indulging in these delectable desserts, you can continue to browse the bespoke stationery from Bynd Artisan, conveniently located in the same space.
