The cycling community in Singapore is growing bigger, and my cycling-enthusiast friends are constantly looking for attire and cafes to hang out after rides.
Cycling and coffee do something go well together.
There are more cycling-themed or bicycle-friendly cafes in Singapore such as Blue Balls Café (Pasir Panjang), Crank N’ Chain (Quayside Isle), and Ciclo e Caffè (Changi Village)
Rapha has opened a Singapore pop-up store at 39 Tanjong Pagar Road, and will be around for 3 months or so (but actual duration will depend on response).
The Rapha Clubhouse is a minimalist cycling shop and coffeehouse combined for customers to get apparel and accessories, artwork, and coffee at the same place.
There are also occasional screenings of live races.
Cyclists who are willing to spend on apparel should not be unfamiliar with Rapha Performance Roadwear, a sports lifestyle brand focused on road bicycle racing and mountain biking clothing and accessories.
While I am not a cyclist myself, I actually just visited the Rapha Clubhouse which also houses a coffee place within at Soho, London, so there is that sense of familiarity. Rapha has their headquarters in London.
Over in Singapore’s Clubhouse, coffee is supplied by PPP Coffee, and you may know them better as “Papa Palheta”.
On the menu are Double Espresso ($4), Black ($5.50), White ($6.50), Mocha ($6.50) and Hot Chocolate ($7.50). Iced versions are a dollar more.
Prices are slightly on the higher side.
They use the Terra Firma blend, which has tasting notes of red berries, caramel and milk chocolate. Incidentally, it is the name of the very first blend they had since days at Hooper Road.
Available are light bites such as Parmigiano Garlic Twist ($6), Signature Carrot Cake ($5), Burnt Cheesecake ($5.50) and Lemon Blueberry Cake ($6).
The pop-up in Singapore is stocked with many of Rapha’s latest ranges, and hopes be a meeting place for fans of the sport.
