The Michelin inspectors took some notice of Yuhua Village Market & Food Centre, and stalls such as Fei Fei Roasted Noodle 肥肥烧腊云吞面 and Heng Heng Cooked Food were both awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand.

There is one stall at Yuhua Village with a Michelin Plate though – Ron Sheng Fish Head Bee Hoon 榮勝魚頭米粉.

Chinese Garden MRT station is a 10-minute walk away from Yuhua Village Market & Food Centre.

Take the EW Line MRT and exit towards Exit C – Parc Oasis, Jurong Town Hall Road. Note that this food centre will be closed from 14 March to 31 May 2022 for “Repairs and Redecoration Works”.

Do not confuse this with Yuhua Place Market & Hawker Centre – that is an entirely different market & food centre.

Yuhua Village Market & Food Centre is home to Ron Sheng, famous for its Fish Head Bee Hoon ($4).

Also on its menu are Fish Meat Bee Hoon ($4), Seafood Soup ($4), Fish Porridge ($4), Tom Yam Seafood Soup ($5), Sliced Fish Soup ($4), and even Mee Hoon Kway ($3.50).

If you enjoy a well-battered boneless fish, go get their Fried Fish Bee Hoon ($4). Fans love the chunky pieces of fish along with the flavourful soup. There is little hint of baking soda you sometimes taste from some other places.

With that said, I thought that the batter to fish meat proportion was on the high side, some pieces rather ‘doughy’ on the outside, and could have been crispier with a crunch.

Perhaps because they deep-fry the pieces in bulks, and it would depend on the time you head down.

Otherwise, choose the sliced fish which is devoid of any thick covering.

The milk-infused mild-cloudy broth was smooth and sweet, with a strong taste of ginger. To be honest, slightly above average but nothing out-of-this-world.

Ron Sheng’s stall is tucked in a corner, yet it manages to pull in queueing diners especially during dinner time.
