Explore this side of Singapore at Jurong East and find hidden gems of delicious proportions. At Yuhua Village Market & Food Centre, you can find inexpensive eats guaranteed to pacify your hawker food cravings.
Plus, it has just been renovated so you would find bigger fans and newer tables here for a more comfortable dining experience.
Long-time hawker food legends abound here. But don’t confuse this with Yuhua Place Market & Hawker Centre – that is an entirely different market & food centre.
So there are two popular hawker centres found at Jurong East, Yuhua Village Market and Food Centre (Blk 254) and Yuhua Market & Hawker Centre (Blk 347). Would say they are about a 10 minutes’ walk from each other.
Chinese Garden MRT station is a 10-minute walk away from Yuhua Village Market & Food Centre. Take the EW Line MRT and exit towards Exit C – Parc Oasis, Jurong Town Hall Road.
Here are 10 Yuhua Village stalls (recommended by a stay-at-Jurong friend) you can head to: (will also try to head down one of these days to add more details to this post)
Fei Fei Roasted Noodles

Heng Heng Cooked Food
Yuhua Village Food Centre #01-12
Opening Hours: 8am – 2pm (Fri – Tues), Closed Wed, Thurs
The stall has apparently been more than 30 years. While it is more known for Laksa ($3, $3.50, $4), several customers were seen ordering their prawn noodles.
Heng Heng’s Laksa comes served with fish cake slices, large triangular pieces of taupok (dried beancurd puff) and cockles.
For $3, you get quite a bit of ingredients, and from appearance alone you can tell the gravy was to the thicker side due to the coconut milk. Also awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand.
Ron Sheng Fish Head Beehoon
Yuhua Village Food Centre #01-44
Opening Hours: 10am – 9pm (Mon, Wed, Thurs, Sat, Sun), Closed Tues, Fri
Yuhua Village Market & Food Centre is home to Ron Sheng, famous for its Fish Head Bee Hoon.
A regular serving of white bee hoon with fish head, fish meat, and a tasty soup only costs you $4. If you enjoy a well-battered boneless fish, go get their Fried Fish Bee Hoon ($4). Fans love the chunky pieces of fish along with the flavourful soup. There is little hint of baking soda you sometimes taste from some other places.
With that said, I thought that the batter to fish meat proportion was on the high side, some pieces rather ‘doughy’ on the outside.
Hup Hong Chicken Rice
Yuhua Village Food Centre #01-51
Opening Hours: 11:30am – 5:30pm (Tues – Sun), Closed Mon
A long line for this stall known for affordable and succulent tender chicken, so do not be surprised if you find a line of customers at opening hours.
A plate of Chicken Rice starts from $3.50 ($13 for half chicken, $26 for whole), and they also serve up Char Siew Rice ($3.50), Roast Pork Rice ($3.50).

Xiang Ji Cooked Food
Yuhua Village Food Centre #01-53

A popular porridge stall that offers Century Egg Chicken Porridge ($3.50), Chicken Porridge ($3), Pork Porridge ($3). An additional egg cost $0.50.
Note that they may sell out before closing hours.
Their porridge texture is unlike the usual ultra smooth congee, and you would taste soft bits of rice within – comforting, old-school flavours as though they are cooked by your ah-ma.
I enjoyed the bits of preserved radish and shallots which gave varying textures and that touch of appealing saltiness.
Cai Horfun 财
Yuhua Village Food Centre #01-14
Opening Hours: 10:30am – 2:30pm, 5pm – 8:30pm
Generous portions of meat on top of hor fun or stewed rice, complete with wok-hei.
Cai serves up Fish Hor Fun ($5), Beef Hor Fun ($5), Prawn Hor Fun ($5), Fish Stewed Rice ($5), Beef Stewed Rice ($5) and Surpreme Pork Ribs Rice ($5).
Loved the thick slices of egg, hot-piping eggy sauce.
Seng Huat Homemade Fried Carrot Cake
Yuhua Village Food Centre #01-48
Opening Hours: 11am – 9pm (Mon – Sun)
It is not that common to find handmade carrot cake anymore, but you can still find it at Seng Huat. Therefore, you could their radish cake’s texture more to the soft and wobbly side.
Order a white or black at $3.50, $4, or $5. I would have preferred more ‘wok-hei’ and charred bits, but this is a decent rendition.
