Onze, probably one of the less known buildings located in Tanjong Pagar, may sound unfamiliar to many people.
In fact, the building has been there for years and opposite 100AM Mall, also where Beef Sukiyaki Don Keisuke, Kaunta, GUANN, Sugar & Tease, and DESEM Bakery are located.
K. Patisserie is the newest addition to the Tanjong Pagar area, located right within the building in one corner.
Stepping inside, the 16 seaters space is decked in dusty pink colour, with a cake display counter and their kitchen all within the same compound.
All their pastries are made in house, with a small selection of pastries such as Passionfruit Meringue Tart ($8), 70% Dark Chocolate Tart ($8), Chocolate Espresso ($8.50), Chocolate Praline ($9).
Interesting flavours include Goma Cheesecake ($8.50), Speculoos Cheesecake ($8) and Pulut Hitam Cake ($8.50) which are more unique and less commonly seen in other cafes.
My favourite is the Speculoos Cheesecake ($8), topped with biscoff crumbles, speculoos drizzle on top of a layer of cream cheesecake, with a lotus biscoff cookie base.
The overall texture of the cheesecake is smooth and creamy with distinctive buttery notes.
The level of sweetness was also just right, without being cloying sweet, whereas the biscoff crumbles add some crunchy textures in contrast to the creamy cheesecake.
For those who prefer a non-sweet dessert, the Pulut Hitam Cake ($8.50) will be the best option.
The Pulut Hitam Cake tasted just like the dessert on its own, with glutinous rice embedded within that adds a certain chewiness to it, yet retaining the light and moist texture of the cake.
The usual selection of Espresso-based drinks such as Espresso ($3), Long Black/ Americano ($5), Latte ($6) can be found on their menu.
Alternatively, non-espresso based drinks include Matcha Latte ($6.50), Black Sesame Latte (Hot $6.50), 1872 Clipper Tea ($7) are offered here.
Using matcha powder from Matchaya, the Matcha Latte ($6.50) comes in sweetened and unsweetened version.
The Matcha Latte was decent, with hints of matcha taste that complements with the desserts offered here.
While the desserts are pretty dainty in size, the flavours are interesting and well crafted and is a good quaint spot to check out.
