The Orchard Road area is bustling with people this period.
Multiple F&Bs can be seen added to the Orchard area the past few months, such as Dont Yell At Me, HEYTEA and Bakers X at Orchard Central; Found Café, You Are My Sunshine and Cafe Q Classified at Ngee Ann City; and Little Grain Café along Orchard Road.
82SOHO which stands for 82 Social House is a multi-entertainment habitat, the latest addition to Orchard Gateway with 2 distinct entertainment – Kommune & Tigress.
Kommune is a digital-forward hub built with Korean karaoke, console gaming, computer gaming, & board games for friends to gather and bond over these recreational activities.
Tigress, on the other hand, is a jungle theme Korean-fusion gastrobar which provides a space for the urban folk to kindle over food and drinks or even a game of billiards.
From the tall ceilings to the concrete floorings, wooden furniture, lots of plants and natural sunlight shining through the ceiling to floor glass windows create an urban jungle feel.
Serving Korean flavours in their menu items, diners can look forward to their signature Japanese Wagyu fat-infused Beef Burgers ($17 – $34), Tapas $13 – $18), Platters ($26 – $52) and Sides ($10 – $12).
Each of their Japanese Wagyu fat-infused Beef Burger comes with French Fries and a choice of Sides (Homemade Kimchi, Mac & Cheese, Onion Rings, Truffle Enoki, Tomato Salsa Salad).
Their Japanese Wagyu fat-infused Beef Burger looked interesting, with options such as The Tigress ($24), Classic Cheese ($20), Buratta Foie Gras ($24), Kimchi Beef ($21), and Bulgogi ($24).
Diners can choose their meat origin for their beef patty: Brazilian (default), Argentinian (+$8) or Japanese Wagyu (+$12).
Further customisation is available with more toppings such as Wagyu Patty ($12), Foie Gras ($9), Red Cheddar ($4), Sun-dried Tomatoes ($3), Portobello ($6), Parma Ham ($6), Fried Egg ($2), Bacon ($4) or Blue Cheese ($5).
Served in a metal tray, my Kimchi Beef ($21) was served with bacon, lettuce, tomato, caramelised onion, red cheddar and mayo sandwiched between two soft and fluffy buns.
The Brazilian beef patty was considered pretty moist and tender, with charred crispy edges after grilling whereas the kimchi adds a nice citrusy and spicy tang that cuts through the greasiness.
The caramelised onions also helped to balance to overall flavours, though I wished that the bacon could be a crispier to add more textures to the burger.
The sides served as finger food to munch on, while indulging in the board games brought over from Kommune next door.
Apart from their selection of burgers, Tigress also offers an assortment of drinks, ranging from Mashy Milkshakes ($12) to Desserts ($7 – $11), Coffee ($4 – $7) and Tea ($7).
True to their jungle and botanical theme, the Matcha Latte ($7) was aesthetically pleasing with dried flowers served on the side.
While the earthly notes of the matcha latte can be distinguished, the drink was slightly too sweet for my liking.
Tea lovers can look forward to their selection of tea gelato (Single scoop $4.50, Double scoops $7) from Oroma, with interesting ones such as Golden Tigress using Korean yuja fruit, Teh Tarik, Strawberry Sencha, London Fog with Earl Grey, Midnight Oolong and Moroccan Mint with Green Tea.
With a conducive environment for some games and grubs away from the bustling Orchard Road, Tigress at 82SOHO will be a good spot for some quiet moments.
