It was a weekday lunch buffet, and AquaMarine at Marina Mandarin Level 4 known for its dazzling spread of seafood and international cuisine, was packed with diners.

Here is one possible reason why: There is just SO MUCH FOOD at Aquamarine, considered value for its money.

[There is also another reason: UnionPay Card appears to be their best companion in the hunting for delicacies owing to the convenience and privileges it offers. For further deals, check out the UnionPay Promotion at the end of the post. 15% off total food bill at AquaMarine with UnionPay card.]

After recceing a few rounds to survey the food, I must say this buffet restaurant has quite a wide sumptuous-looking spread, known for tasty Stone Crabs, Steamed Live Prawns, juicy Black Mussels from France, succulent Spanner Crabs and Fresh Clams.

I walked further to a Terrace behind, and there was MORE FOOD there – Japanese and Chinese highlights of sashimi, tempura, soba and a live roast station (don’t miss stepping out and the entire section).

Better news: AquaMarine is certified Halal for its buffet stations. Good consideration if you need to organise a company or group dinner where there are Muslim friends and colleagues.

Perennial favourites at AquaMarine include Chili or Black Pepper Crabs, live stations with Roast Beef or Lamb, alongside Durian Pengat, Soft Serve Ice-Cream, Kueh Kuehs and Cakes.

The must-must have is the Hainanese Chicken Rice, also known as the “Legendary Mandarin Chicken Rice”.

The Hainanese Chicken Rice is one of the best you can find at a buffet restaurant in Singapore.

The chicken meats were succulently juicy, laying on a combination of soy sauce and oil that I couldn’t stop swiping the pieces across.

The fragrant, not-too-oily rice went well with the accompanying signature chili sauce, ginger paste and dark soy sauce.

Admittedly, not every item on the buffet was “wow”, some fell flat in terms of flavours.

This is understandably challenging because the team was trying to present a really wide spectrum on international and Asian fare, and you could even get Korean, Thai and Filipino food items.

Head for the seafood section and you would be treated freshness of salmon sashimi, crabs, oysters, mussels and prawns, all in endless flow.
