Wildcard, the latest dining establishment brought to us by the talented individuals behind Maxi Coffee Bar, is a hidden gem located at Furama RiverFront.

Perhaps this part of Singapore is where you seldom head to, but the hotel is quite near the new Havelock MRT station.

With its unique concept as a coffee and wine bar, Wildcard offers more than just your average dining experience. I suspect the team doesn’t want to call this a “café” though.

It is built as a space for anyone seeking an escape from the mundane, a place to connect for a sense of community.

During the daytime, Wildcard presents a delectable selection of dishes that cater to various preferences.

Starting with the sweet treats, the Banana Bread ($8) with whipped cream and apricot jam would be a delightful indulgence to go with coffee.

There are also the Kaya Butter on Milk Bun ($8) and Egg Mayo on Milk Bun ($15) which offer a combination of creamy fillings nestled within soft milk buns.

Whether you prefer the aromatic sweetness of kaya butter or the rich creaminess of egg mayo, these buns are sure to please.

If you are in the mood for heartier fare, wait until noon to explore the more substantial offerings.

Dishes include the Fried Quail ($20), Prawn Sando ($22) or Wildcard Seasonal Salad Bowl ($16) which should be a refreshing and nutritious option.

One standout dish at Wildcard is the Prawn Sando ($22). While it is called a “sando”, I think the presentable is more akin to a delectable burger.

This features crispy prawn patty prepared katsu style, accompanied by a tantalising fermented chili aioli and a celeriac remoulade, all served on a milk bread bun.

I liked the mixture of textures and the succulence of the katsu which was sweet and juicy at the same time.

The combination of crispy prawns, creamy aioli, and the subtle crunch of celeriac created quite a symphony of flavours, which I thought was rather filling as well.

Another intriguing option on the menu is the Oxtail Donut ($12).

This savoury creation showcases the culinary prowess of Chef Ahmir from Between Buns who is behind the kitchen.

The fluffy donut, infused with braised oxtail and espresso BBQ glaze, was topped with bone marrow crumbs, adding an extra layer of richness and depth.

The contrast between the tender oxtail and the light, airy donut was a delight.

If you come at night, there would be a slightly different menu, and there may be items (as they are rotating) such as Braised Lamb Rump ($34) and Fried Jerusalem Artichokes ($18).

I liked the richness and bite of the Paccheri ($21) which is pasta characterised by its large tube-like shape and smooth texture prepared Cacio e Pepe style.

Apart from the food offerings, Wildcard also boasts an extensive selection of coffee, kombucha, and wine to accompany your meal.

Whether you are a coffee aficionado or a wine enthusiast, the friendly staff at Wildcard can guide you towards the perfect pairing to enhance your dining experience.
