Residents staying near Hougang should be familiar with Lola’s Café, which is the to-go-to brunch place in that area.

Known for its unpretentious food, it is typically packed with groups of families and friends during the weekends, especially for the brunch hours.

The good news for those staying near Holland Village, Lola’s Café has opened at 48 Lorong Mambong. (Other NEW Holland Village cafes include Keong Saik Bakery and Caffeine Express.)

It took over where JOMO used to be located at.

The breakfast menu available from 9am to 3pm include hearty items of Shakshuka ($16), Crab Cake Benedict ($19), Pulled Pork & Avocado Eggs Benedict ($16), Angus Beef Burger ($18), and Ultimate Croissant ($16).

Go for the Crab Cake Benedict ($19) which consist of handmade crab cake on toasted English muffins, topped with miso hollandaise sauce and furikake.

Not forgetting the poached eggs as well. As you cut across, the combination of oozy egg yolk, moist crab cake and unique miso hollandaise may just create that mini explosion in your mouth.

Lola’s Breakfast ($18) comes in a bowl, giving the classic breakfast plate a unique personality. It comprises scrambled eggs, streaky bacon made using pork belly, sauteed Cajun mushrooms, and pork sausage.

Livening up the presentation, in the end, is a slice of lightly toasted sourdough and some fresh salad greens.

For dinner, some of their heartier items include Grilled Kurobuta Pork Collar ($23), Battered Fish & Chips ($17), Tuscan Seafood Stew ($23), Black Garlic Fried Chicken Burger ($18), and Duck Leg Confit with Truffle Mash ($20).

If you want to try one of their cakes, the Chocolate Cake is recommended, included with dark chocolate sponge, Belgium chocolate Italian meringue buttercream, hazelnut feuilletine, dark chocolate ganache, and chocolate hazelnut cubes.

(Their Seasalt Chocolate Tart is also quite popular.)

The sponge area would have been slightly moister, but I liked there was a varying textures especially the soft cube at the top.
