My friend wanted to grab a cup of coffee post-lunch I decided to search for somewhere in the hood.
And I ended up at “Neighbourhood”, a cafe nestled within a cycling studio at Manulife Tower in Telok Ayer.
Upon entering the lobby of Manulife Tower, head to the right hand side and you will see a long flight of escalator with hanging bespoke lights that stated “ALLY”.
It seems like I had entered an Apple Store, a 6500 square feet space featuring a huge lobby (or they called it the community space) with an in-house coffee bar counter.
The space is brightly lit with white ceiling panels, a standalone tree, glass windows, wooden coffee tables and tall stools which provides a peaceful and conducive environment.
Neighborhood is their coffee bar and shake store, a refuel station for members of the cycling studio and the public to grab a cup of pre and post-workout beverages.
Featuring a sleek granite bar counter and a chromed Slayer espresso machine, the menu is pretty concise with only Black ($3.50), White ($4.50) and Shakes ($9).
2 single origin coffee beans are available for their espresso-based drink, Guatemala or Brazil, both roasted by Brewsmith Coffee Roasters in Malaysia.
Optional add on includes Organic Oat Milk by Minor Figures (+$1), Soy Milk by Happy Happy Soy Bon (+$1) or an extra espresso shot (+$1).
There is no additional charge for Iced beverages.
The Shakes ($9) menu include Triple Berry Acai, I Beg You Garden, Made for Champs and Summer Feelin, served in 16oz cups for the energy required post workout.
My cup of hot White ($4.50) using the coffee beans from Guatemala was medium-bodied, smooth with notes of raisin, apple and chocolate.
The Iced White ($4.50) using Brazil beans had notes of almond, raisin, toffee and dark chocolate, more robust and earthly.
A nice addition to the hood, Neighborhood will be an ideal spot to grab a cup of coffee before work since they open at 7:30am on weekdays and 9am during the weekends (dine-in 12pm to 5pm).
