This includes their first-ever Japanese Treasure Pot aka Pen Cai ($188, for 4-5 pax) which features premium ingredients including whole abalone, sashimi-grade scallops from Hokkaido, snow crab leg meat, prawn, and more in superior stock boiled for hours. Abundance YuSheng ($60.80 nett, for 6-8 pax)
In line with the auspicious phrase ”Nian Nian You Yu” 年年有余, this Abundance YuSheng featuring slices of not one, not two, but three types of fish – fresh Norwegian Salmon, Maguro (tuna) and Hamachi (yellowtail) from Japan.
You don’t often find sashimi slices of Japanese Hamachi in YuSheng. The fish is known to be luscious and buttery in texture which melts in the mouth, possessing that desirable bold and rich flavour.
It is also interesting to find the inclusion of Chuka Kurage (seasoned jellyfish) and Chuka Wakame (seasoned seaweed) as base ingredients for the prosperity toss, which adds that slightly chewy texture contrasted with the vegetables.
If you would like to try something different from the usual sweet plum sauce for your YuSheng, then you will enjoy the house-special yuzu dressing made using ingredients from Japan.
I enjoyed it for its zest and refreshing tanginess, which lifted the taste of the cut vegetables.
Also available is a Blessings YuSheng ($48.80 nett, for 6-8 pax) which has 2 kinds of sashimi – Norwegian Salmon and Hamachi.
Invigorating Fruits YuSheng ($56.80, available online only)
For a healthier lohei experience, this vibrantly colourful YuSheng includes a refreshing medley of six types of fruits: pomelo, pear, guava, mango, pineapple and jackfruit.
My favourite was the mango which added a creamy, sweet-fruity taste; while the strong-flavoured jackfruit will have an element of surprise.
