[Updated 15th April 2019] Okay, I feel so cheated. (How about those who went to queue up for an hour or more?)

in a rather fast U-turn, it appears that Kenny Rogers Roasters Singapore IS coming back.

The last standing Kenny Rogers Roasters outlet in Singapore at Great World City, initially announced “closure” on the 14th of April (Sun).

Barely a day after that, I found out that they will re-emerge with a new fast-casual concept, and there is intention to go Halal under the revamped branding.

The franchise right has been taken over by Lao Huo Tang Group of Companies. (Will we see Edmund Chen posing with chicken in time to come?)

The American restaurant co-founded by country singer Kenny Rogers, has been part of the growing up era for many.

They were famed for comforting mains and sides such as Rotisserie Chicken, Macaroni and Cheese, Mash Potatoes, Home-style Baked Fish, Baby Back Ribs, and Honey Baked Beans.

Not forgetting the famous corn muffin.

However, I will be honest to say that I have stopped having Kenny Roger’s for a number of years, as the food standard was nowhere close to before, and its online visibility has been rather low.

They were part of my teenage growing up years (remember that Holland Village branch?), where Rotisserie Chicken and Mac & Cheese were still not THAT common. And we would consider a meal at Kenny Roger’s quite a treat.

With fast-casual restaurants such as Aston’s and Collins proliferating the market, consumers today have much more choices.

After news of their closure got onto social media, long queues formed outside the “last branch” in Singapore at Great World City, waiting to get their hands on some corn muffins for the “last time”.

Those were sold out early, and many left disappointed. THEN THIS HAPPENED.

Under the new franchise, there is intention to re-brand into a more modern fast-casual concept with speedier service with inexpensive pricing.

Diners look forward to classics such as Kenny’s Quarters, Chicken Pot Pie and Corn Muffin, along with other new menu items such as Nasi Lemak.

I don’t know what to feel right now. Oh well, welcome back Kenny Rogers?

(DFD has written to the Lao Huo Tang Group for their statement, and is waiting for their reply.)
