Yes, another new mall in Johor Bahru.
SKS City Mall JBCC is one of the newer malls in JB, located along Jalan Storey in Bukit Senyum and directly connected to Sheraton Johor Bahru.
From the looks of it, quite many Singaporeans have been there already. BUT it is not the biggest mall in JB, so this is probably worth managing expectations for.
If you do not have anything major to buy, you should be able to finish walking around in about 1.5 hours or so.
The F&B selection is probably the more interesting part, with Restoran Sze Zai Hong, Sarawak Taste, Spazzo Pasta, Restoran Afrida, Kay’s Steak & Lobster, Crab Bro, Canton Boy, Shin Kyu, Qi Ming Hotpot and more spread across the mall.

Creative Bagels And Brunch Plates
Palates & Bagels by T.A.M is for the bagel lovers, with recommended options such as Choco Orange, Garlic Cream Cheese, Focaccia Bagel, Sweet Potato Mochi, Charcoal Pistachio and Raspberry Lychee.
The Garlic Cream Cheese, marked as the top choice, was the more enjoyable pick with its soft bread-like texture, sweetish garlic cream cheese filling and savoury finish, while the Choco Orange looked attractive but could have used a deeper chocolate flavour.
Souper Tang 汤师父

Nourishing Broths, Herbal Chicken Soup And Family-Style Dishes
Souper Tang 汤师父 is known for Chinese herbal soups, nourishing broths and homely dishes that feel quite comforting.
The menu goes big on soups, from Collagen Fish Maw Chicken Soup and Mountain Pepper Pork Tripe Soup to American Ginseng Black Chicken Soup with Aged Black Garlic, Black Truffle Chicken Soup and its Souper Tang Signature Soup.
There are also heartier dishes such as Simmered Sesame Chicken Rice Pot, Herbal Paper Wrapped Spring Chicken and Souper Tang Braised Pork Rice.
For those who still have space after soup and rice, don’t miss the smooth beancurd pudding served in wooden tubs.

Nanyang Kopitiam With Mee Rebus, Mee Siam, Shokupan And Kopi
Roast & Coffee started as a small noodle stall selling Mee Rebus, before growing into a kopitiam concept with several outlets across Johor Bahru.
The brand brings the familiar modern Nanyang kopitiam experience to the new mall, with glossy menus, retro inspired interiors, Nanyang coffee, mee siam, mee rebus, polo buns and local comfort dishes.
The Curry Chicken Meesiam was the dish that left the stronger impression, with sweet, tangy and mildly spicy noodles that brought back nostalgic memories of having dry mee siam.
Si Si Nan Cun 四四南村

Taiwanese Restaurant With Braised Pork Rice And Pork Chop Sets
Si Si Nan Cun 四四南村 is a Taiwanese casual dining restaurant with rice bowls, noodles, pork chop sets and wheel cakes in one place.
The menu places strong focus on braised pork rice, including Champion Braised Pork Rice and Golden Ratio Braised Pork Rice.
I tried the Taiwanese Pork Chop with Champion Braised Pork Rice, which came with glossy chopped pork belly over rice, a sunny side up egg, fried pork chop, side dishes and chilli.
The flavours were rich and slightly sweet (not too greasy), while the pork chop added a crisp, peppery bite to the meal, and tasted quite authentic. Not bad.

French-Malaysian Bakery Cafe With Pastries, Cakes And Local Comfort Dishes
Senjaa Bakery Cafe is one of the prettier sit-down cafés at SKS City Mall JBCC, with a wood-panelled storefront, patterned tiles, curved booth seats and a bakery counter filled with pastries, petite cakes and macarons.
The concept brings together French-inspired bakery items with Malaysian comfort food, so you can find croissants and cakes alongside Laksa Johor, Classic Mee Rebus, Signature Nasi Lemak, Hainan Chicken Au Gratin and “Asam Pedas”.
Coco Bless Patisserie

French-Inspired Cakes, Croissants And Petite Gateaux
Coco Bless Patisserie brings a more polished pastry counter, with French-inspired cakes, petite gateaux, Swiss rolls, viennoiseries, choux puffs and whole cakes.
If you find the brand familiar, it is founded by Johor pastry chef Yong Lu, winner of Singapore baking competition Crème De La Crème 糖朝冠冕 Season 2.
What caught my eye first was the bright yellow counter, followed by the rows of glossy cakes and golden pastries.
There were items such as Ham & Cheese Croissant, Sausage Cheese Roll, Pain Au Chocolat, Strawberry Princess, Dune and other neatly finished petite cakes.
Good for a tea break, or when you want to buy something that looks presentable and pretty.
All About Chew

Thick, Chewy Cookies From The Cookie Club
All About Chew is a Malaysian cookie brand specialising in chunky, chewy cookies, which are the thick, loaded sort rather than the flat crisp type.
Flavours seen at the counter included B.A.S (Big Ass Softy), B.A.R.S (Big Ass Raspberry Softy), B.A.M.S (Big Ass Matcha Softy), B.A.C.S (Big Ass Chocolate Softy) and B.A.V.S (Big Ass Velvet Softy).
Prices are around RM15.50 to RM18 each, so these are not exactly casual everyday cookies. But the pieces are quite substantial, with some packed with chocolate, cream cheese, raspberry, matcha or white chocolate.
Ming Ang Traditional Pastry 明安

Ming Ang Traditional Pastry 明安 is one of those familiar Johor Bahru names for traditional pastries and local snacks, especially for those who like to bring something home after a JB trip.
The brand has been around since 1992, and is best known for freshly baked items such as Heong Peah, Siew Bao, Creamy Milk Cake, Tambun Biscuit, Golden Milk Pastry and Tausa Chicken Floss.
The Heong Peah is probably the signature item, with a flaky pastry shell and sticky maltose filling inside.
Yumido Bakery

Yumido is a Johor bakery brand known for handmade pastries, with bestsellers such as Portuguese Egg Tart, Baked Cheese Tart, Siew Bao, Heong Peah, Hong Kong Liu Sha Bun, Croissant and Taro Chicken Floss Cake.

Premium Tea Bar With BO·YA Jasmine Milk Tea And Mango Series Drinks
The brand that needs little introduction. CHAGEE is one of the more recognisable tea brands, known for its modern tea bar concept and tea-based drinks made with freshly brewed whole-leaf tea.
The usual signatures include BO·YA Jasmine Green Milk Tea, Da Hong Pao Milk Tea, Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea and other fresh milk tea options.
For something lighter, CHAGEE Malaysia’s newer Mango Series includes Mango Yuzu Long Jing Tea and Creamy Mango Jasmine Tea. I tried the Mango Yuzu Long Jing Tea, which was bright, fruity and refreshing.
