When I visited, the line here did not look that intimidating at first (perhaps about 10 pax).
But between dine in orders, takeaways, and GrabFood delivery orders coming in between, it took me close to an hour to get my noodles.
Yummy Sarawak Kolo Mee 砂勞越哥撈麵 at Tampines Round Market & Food Centre is one stall where you should not judge the waiting time by the length of the queue.
So yes, come with some patience, or at least do not join the queue when you are already very hungry.
The stall has been around for many years, run by Mr Sunny Lee and his wife Veronica.
The portions here are quite generous, which may partly explain why regulars continue to queue even when the wait gets long.
The menu is also much wider than what the stall name suggests.
There are Signature Sarawak Kuching Kolo Mee Set Meal ($6), Signature Spare Ribs Noodle ($6), Chicken Feet Noodle ($5.50), Ipoh Hor Fun ($5), Mushroom Noodle ($5), Signature Dumpling Noodle ($5) and more.
The Signature Sarawak Kuching Kolo Mee ($6) arrived with quite a spread of ingredients, including char siew, wanton, fried wanton, vegetables, mushroom, braised spare ribs and soup on the side.
The part I was most curious about was the noodles. The kolo mee I usually remember tends to be thinner and curlier, with a springy bite. This version did not quite look or feel like that.
The noodles were straighter and softer than expected, which made me wonder if the stall had changed its noodle supplier over the years.
If you are expecting a more classic Kuching style kolo mee texture, this may feel closer to a localised version.
I also tried the Signature Spare Ribs Noodle ($6), and that gave me more reason to understand why customers would queue for this.
The spare ribs were soft and meaty, with a dark braising sauce that gave the noodles more body and flavour. Not forgetting that ‘power’ chilli padi sauce.
If you have time, patience, and a soft spot for old-school noodle stalls with big portions, Yummy Sarawak Kolo Mee is one to look out for on your Tampines Round Market & Food Centre list.
Side note: the stall has also been newly included in the MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2026 selection.
