Oh, another new Korean café.
That was honestly my first thought when I walked past Visitors at Tanjong Pagar by chance.
Visitors did look different enough from the usual cafés around.
From the outside, it has a clean white frontage, black-framed glass windows, a small neon sign, and some outdoor seats along the corridor.
Inside, the space had some of that ‘Seongsu vibe’ with white walls, warm wood, low sofas, round tables, plants, soft lamps, and enough empty space between seats.
I only realised after doing some checking that Visitors is by the team behind Noci Pasta Bar, Tonshou, Seoul Noodle Shop and Wonderful Bapsang. No wonder.
That helped explain the look and feel.
For food, there are croissants, brunch plates and desserts, with items such as Croissant Butter Selection ($15), Ricotta Honeybutter & Ice Cream ($17), and Chocolate Fondue & Ice Cream ($15).
Brunch items include Bread & Butter Plate ($17), Basil Garlic Chicken Sandwich ($18), Jambon Beurre Sandwich ($16), and Truffle Egg Soldiers ($13).
During my visit, the café was still in soft launch mode, so I only managed to try one food item.
The Truffle Egg Soldiers ($13) came with baguette sticks, a soft-boiled egg, truffle oil, truffle salt, Parmigiano Reggiano and dill. There is also an option to add prosciutto for $1, which I did.
The enjoyment came more from the way you eat it.
Dip the lightly crisp baguette sticks into the runny yolk, add a bit of truffle salt, then repeat while the egg is still warm.
Other than the usual coffee, some of the interesting drinks include Honey Milkshake ($7.50), Ube Latte ($7), Brulee Milk Tea ($7.50), Valrhona Chocolate Latte ($8), and Matcha Cloud ($8, iced only).
I would return to try more of the menu once the café settles properly. In the meantime, Visitors Cafe looks like it may draw a crowd pretty soon.
Part of the reason? Oppa baristas.
