Don’t be mistaken by the name. Boon Keng Road Fish Head Bee Hoon 文慶路鱼頭米粉 is not at Boon Keng, but located at Bedok North Avenue 2 (not too far away from Bedok 216 Food Centre).

The stall used to be along Boon Keng Road before moving to Bedok in 2000, and so the name simply followed along.

Having been around since the 1990s, the owner Mdm Tan, was previously a fishmonger. Her son has taken over the business since 2011 (and to side track, also runs the Bedok North coffee shop where the stall operates).

The stall is also listed as a new entry in the MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2026 Bib Gourmand selection.

Clearly, the MICHELIN inspectors here love their fish soup, with Han Kee, Kwang Kee Teochew Fish Porridge, Jun Yuan House Of Fish, Tai Seng Fish Soup, Song Fish Soup 宋鱼汤, and Newton Authentic Song Kee Teochew Fish Porridge being some of the recent entries.

Just to name a few (and I noticed many come in light blue-coloured bowls).

Make your way to Lau Ka Kopitiam, and you will find the menu here wider than just Fish Head Bee Hoon.

I went for the Double Fish Soup, which came with both fried fish and sliced fish.

The first thing I noticed was how hot the soup was, and that made it feel more shiok.

Not just warm-from-the-pot hot, but the kind of heat that makes you slow down after the first spoonful.

It had that almost wok-fired intensity, though I cannot confirm if the soup is actually finished in a wok.

The broth was cloudy, with a slightly grainy texture, some sweetness from the fish and a deeper body than a regular clear sliced fish soup.

Those who prefer a very smooth, clear broth may find this a little heavier.

The fried fish was the easier one to like. The batter soaked up the hot broth, giving you that savoury, spongey bite rather than a crisp one.

The sliced fish was clean-tasting and reasonably thick, with a firmer-than-usual bite. I liked that it did not have that muddy or overly fishy aftertaste.

The vegetables, bittergourd, tomato and coriander added some freshness, while the chilli on the side gave the sliced fish a sharper lift.

If you are in Bedok and want a hearty bowl of fish soup that feels properly hot from start to finish, Boon Keng Road Fish Head Bee Hoon is worth trying.

Just remember, it is in 416 Bedok.
