Finding a good spot for lunch in the industrial area of Tai Seng can often feel like a challenge.

Most people know the neighbourhood for its offices and warehouses, but a new hidden gem named JUMBOREE 珍宝乐 has recently opened its doors at 26 Tai Seng Street.

Curry Fish Head Served with JUMBO You Tiao JUMBOREE Singapore

This space marks the first ever food hall by JUMBO Group, and it brings together more than ten favourite brands under one roof. Yes, TEN.

These include Tsui Wah Eatery, NG AH SIO Bak Kut Teh, Kok Kee Wonton Noodle, Chao Ting Pao Fan, Tai Seng Satay, a new self-serve concept at JUMBOREE Premium Quick Meal and more.

JUMBOREE is a large, modern food hall that works well for office workers during the day and offers a more relaxed environment for families or friends in the evening.

The hall uses a digital system where you scan a QR code at your table to order and pay. You then receive a WhatsApp notification on your phone when your food is ready.

The food selection is quite varied, but I will focus on the new concept of JUMBO 1987.

This section operates like a seafood dai pai dong (海鲜大牌档), offering exclusive creations alongside the famous JUMBO Seafood signature dishes.

Live Mud Crab on Steamed Flat Rice Noodles JUMBOREE Singapore

One of the most attractive points here is the nett pricing, which means there are no service charges or GST. This makes it a great option for gatherings, especially with the upcoming Lunar New Year approaching.

Families can enjoy restaurant-quality meals without the premium price tag often found in standard dining rooms.

Hungry for more? Here’s some of the other special signatures at JUMBO 1987:

Curry Fish Head Served with JUMBO You Tiao ($48, 4-6 pax)
This Curry Fish Head dish caught my attention first, mostly because it comes with a piece of JUMBO You Tiao that is nearly as long as my forearm.

The curry itself is thick, fragrant, and carries a gentle lemak heat that does not overwhelm the fresh taste of the fish.

I found that the best way to enjoy this is to use the dough stick as a giant sponge to soak up every last drop of the spicy gravy. The dough stays surprisingly airy and crunchy even after a good dunking.

Live Mud Crab on Steamed Flat Rice Noodles ($88 per portion)
Another exclusive dish at JUMBO 1987, the crab is cooked in a robust black bean sauce that is savoury and full of umami.

While the crab is definitely the star, the Steamed Flat Rice Noodles, or Chen Cun Fen (陈村粉), are the secret heroes of the plate.

Originating from Shunde, these silky, nearly translucent noodles sit at the bottom of the steamer basket and catch all the juices from the crab and the sauce.

They have a lovely, slippery texture that makes them very easy to eat. I often find myself reaching for more noodles even after the crab is finished because they carry so much of the flavour.

Live Australian Lobster Mapo Tofu JUMBOREE Singapore

Live Australian Lobster Mapo Tofu ($88 per portion)
Putting an everyday tofu dish (one of my favourites) and adding a whole lobster is a bold move that works surprisingly well.

The tofu is soft and carries a spicy, numbing mala heat that wakes up your palate immediately.

The lobster meat is firm and sweet, providing a great contrast to the thick, velvety sauce. It feels quite indulgent to find large chunks of premium lobster in what is usually a homely dish.

Flambeed San Bei Chicken JUMBOREE Singapore

Flambéed San Bei Chicken ($22, $33, $44)
The dish brings a bit of theatre to the table. The waiter lights the dish at the table, flambé with Kweichow Moutai Flying Fairy Banquet Red Chinese Baijiu, and the blue flames dance over the chicken for a few seconds.

This process does more than just look good, as it toasts the ginger, garlic, and basil to create a wonderful smell.

The chicken pieces are coated in a dark, sweet, and savoury glaze that has a hint of smoke from the fire. An homely-tasting dish that pairs well with a simple bowl of steamed rice.

Crispy Fried Seafood Beancurd JUMBOREE Singapore

Crispy Fried Seafood Beancurd ($14, $21, $28)
Fun fact: this is a dish that was served at JUMBO Seafood in 1987, where they began.

The outside has a golden, crispy crust.

Inside, the beancurd is soft and packed with small bits of seafood that give it a pleasant, briny taste.

It comes with a small dish of sweet dipping sauce that rounds out the flavours nicely.

Mee Goreng JUMBOREE Singapore

Mee Goreng ($16 for S, $24 for M, $32 for L)
I ordered the Mee Goreng as it is one of my regular favourites from JUMBO Seafood.

The yellow noodles are stir-fried with a good amount of wok hei, which gives them that slight smoky taste that is hard to replicate at home.

The sauce is a bit tangy and spicy, and the prawns are snappy and fresh. I like to squeeze the lime over the top to add a bit of brightness to the dish.

And for those visiting during the workday, this Mee Goreng is also available as a $8.80 one-pax lunch special (available between 11am and 2:30pm Mon – Fri, except PH).

Beyond the prepared meals, the food hall features a live seafood market. This market element adds an interactive feel to the dining experience that you do not usually find in a standard food hall.

You can see various live seafood tanks where you can select your own catch to be cooked on-site or cleaned and packed to take home.

The beverage section is equally unique, featuring a Wine and Beer on Tap system.

There are over 20 different options to choose from, and the cost is calculated by every 10ml, starting at $0.32.

This allows you to do small tastings across a wide variety of red, white, and sparkling options. They also have craft beers with interesting flavours like Ondeh Ondeh Porter, Birds of Paradise White IPA, and Osmanthus Pear Cream Ale.

If you visit between 3pm and 6:30pm daily, you can take advantage of a 1-for-1 Happy Hour deal on the beers / craft beers on tap.

As the day turns into evening, the atmosphere at JUMBOREE shifts significantly.

From Monday to Saturday starting at 8pm, a live band performs. You can request your favourite songs and listen to them while you eat and unwind.

This transforms the space from a busy daytime food hall into a social hub for the evening crowd.
