The new outlet sits on Level 3 of Suntec City (next to Menya Kokoro), bringing its signature wellness soups with prices starting from $9.90.

That’s really good value for money.

This isn’t your average soup restaurant. The Soup Expert’s entire philosophy is built around nourishment and balance.

Think beauty and vitality blends for women, stamina-building recipes for men, detox soups for those who worked hard, calming tonics for seniors, and even brain-nourishing soups for children.

Each broth is double-boiled for four hours using a proprietary steam-boiling cabinet that traps moisture and flavour.

It’s a clever system that keeps the soup nutrient-rich without the greasiness or heaviness you might expect from long-simmered stocks.

Here’s another interesting part: Each serving arrives in a petite porcelain teapot, complete with a handle and spout that make it feel oddly ceremonial.

You pour the broth into a small cup, almost as if you’re about to have tea.

The handle design keeps your fingers safe from the heat, and the double-handled teacup makes sipping a neat affair.

Soups range from Chinese Dates Fig Root Chicken Soup, Daylily Trotters Soup, Black Garlic Beef Bone Soup, Sea Coconut Black Chicken Soup, American Ginseng Duck Soup, to even the famous Buddha Jumps Over the Wall.

Here’s more on what you can expect from The Soup Expert 尚一汤:

Abalone Ginseng Soup ($14.90)
The staff proudly called this their bestseller. The first sip was smooth and clear, yet layered.

The broth carried a quiet sweetness from the ginseng and seafood essence, and I found the flavour building up gradually. (I really liked this pot as it kept the soup and ingredients warm as well.)

The abalone itself was tender and clean-tasting, not chewy as it often can be.

Bittergourd Pork Ribs Soup ($10.90)
This one’s meant to detox and cool a ‘heaty’ body, as the menu says.

I’ll be honest, as I don’t always reach for bittergourd anything. But here, the balance was surprisingly pleasant.

The hint of bitterness sat quietly behind a mellow sweetness from the pork ribs.

The meat was soft and cooked through without falling apart, which you could give a dip in the soy sauce provided.

Wild Mushroom Bamboo Fungus Soup ($12.90)
This is meant to “hydrate and restore”, and the aroma alone was earthy and inviting. Surprisingly my favourite.

The soup was belly-warming in that understated way, with no oil slick, just a golden broth that glides down easily.

Cooker-baked Dang Gui Chicken (whole $36.90, half $18.90)
I have to admit, seeing a whole chicken come out of a rice cooker was quite the sight. It felt homely, yet oddly luxurious.

When I lifted the lid, the aroma of herbs and dang gui floated up. The chicken was soft and full of flavour, and the meat stayed juicy all the way through.

At the bottom of the pot was a pool of golden oil that looked too tempting to ignore. I drizzled it over some rice and instantly understood why people call this comfort food.

Crispy Juicy Boneless Fish ($11.90)
This one was a pleasant surprise. The coating had that satisfying crunch when you bite in, yet the fish inside stayed moist and flaky.

Five Harmony Prawn Cake ($18.90 for 3 slices)
Each slice, crisp on the outside and soft inside, contained four whole prawns mixed with prawn paste.

Also need to mention the dipping sauce came with a slight mala hint that woke up the taste buds.

Blue Friend Fried Rice ($15.90)
The pyramid of blue grains immediately caught my attention. Well, the colour comes from blue pea flower,

Bits of edamame and nuts added crunch and contrast, which felt both familiar and a little special.

Seafood Claypot Vermicelli ($13.90)
This arrived still sizzling, with the tang hoon soaking up all that sauce.

The bits of roe and dried shrimp gave bursts of flavour that made the dish addictive. I liked how it was rich without being heavy.

After all that warmth and richness, the Sugarcane and Water Chestnut Juice washes away the heaviness of the meal and resets the palate nicely.
