[Bali] Before you even get inside 32do Bali 32° 발리, the experience begins.
I was here because I watched a couple of Youtube videos featuring this Korean-style cafe, and the hype was real.
The entrance was semi-dramatic (especially if you compare to the usual coffee shop): a long corridor framed by tall concrete walls with water cascading down either side, guiding you towards the café.
Many visitors pause here to take photos. And if you are there alone, worry not. The security guard was helping by stepping in as a photographer.
He was cheerful, patient, and, to everyone’s surprise, great with angles (the tourist behind me said the photos helped make her legs look longer).
By the way, you will almost always spot a queue outside. Even though the space inside is large, they deliberately limit how many people can enter at once.
It is not for lack of room, but more to keep the ambience calm and unhurried.
Once inside, the scale and design impress. The café is vast and multi-layered, filled with light from overhead skylights. Surfaces are terrazzo and pale wood, softened with greenery.
A central atrium holds a water feature, where streams trickle down in chains into a pebble pool.
Counters line the front with a rainbow of packaged goods, and the pastry display is impossible to ignore with rows of golden bakes.
The pastry menu balances sweet and savoury.
Choices include Soqeum Ppang garlic butter bread (IDR 30K), Soseji sausage pastry (IDR 79K), Cube Croissant (IDR 42K), Blueberry Crumble (IDR 45K), Parmesan Swirl (IDR 32K), Croissant Noir coated in dark chocolate (IDR 42K), Almond Croissant (IDR 42K), and the plain Croissant (IDR 36K).
Larger pieces like the Pandoro Custard (IDR 70K) stand out as centrepieces, while focaccia and pizza slices lean savoury.
Ah yes, the Pandoro Custard, which absolutely reminded me of Seoul’s Café Onion.
Shaped like a small mountain dusted in snowy icing sugar, it was visually striking. However, it was unfortunately TOO sweet.
The Soseji (IDR 79K), a pastry wrapped around a sausage, brought a Korean-style savoury option.
The sausage was decent quality, juicy enough to carry the dish, but it was the drizzling of Korean sauce and mustard that reminded me of a corndog.
On drinks, the Strawberry Matcha Latte was also quite dramatic looking, with earthy tea paired with jam-like fruit. Oh yes, they sold the famous O’Sulloc Tea tea downstairs by the way.
The espresso-based drinks were reliable, not outstanding, but they matched well with the heavier pastries.
32do Bali is an Instagrammable, crafted experience, blending architecture, ambience, and food into one.
Not the cheapest stop in Bali, but the space is beautiful.
