Apartment Coffee was ranked sixth in the inaugural World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops list at CoffeeFest Madrid, and claimed top spot in Asia.
This was no small feat.
The award came from a mix of expert judging and public votes, measuring not just the drink but also the experience, service, and even sustainability.
That said, there is now more to the brand than just this café.
Apartment Coffee recently opened a new concept called Apartment Roastery at Jalan Riang.
The roastery is only open on weekends (yes, only Saturdays and Sundays for now) and focuses on small-batch roasting and unique beans.
For anyone serious about coffee, the roastery adds a new layer to the Apartment experience.
Natural light fills the space, bouncing off white walls and pale plywood furniture.
Every chair and table is angular, almost geometric, and the uncluttered room feels both intentional and slightly clinical.
They don’t serve pastry or hot meals. The focus here is squarely on the coffee.
Oh yes, no takeaways as well.
There are three options for hand-brewed filter coffee, one espresso, and a white coffee, both hot and iced. The only non-coffee item is a seasonal kombucha, made in-house.
For this visit, I ordered the Colombia Javier Rubio hand brew.
The first sip was bright, bursting with red apple. A softer grapefruit note followed, giving just a hint of tang. The finish was smooth and clean, lingering with a delicate cane sugar sweetness.
The Iced White made with Ethiopian Kello Raro beans had a velvety body. The milk brought out flavours of dried fruit and a gentle milk tea character that tied everything together.
Balanced with enough complexity. Really a good cup of coffee.
