Binge at Seng Poh Lane in Tiong Bahru is a bit like a local secret you hope stays yours for just a bit longer.
The space once housed The Maker’s Market, popular with local artisans.
The owners are the same team behind Fame Coffee, so you get coffee roots and a fresh twist on comfort food like sandwiches and burgers.
Binge opens early at 8am with breakfast. Pastries are displayed all day alongside coffee and matcha options.
Breakfast includes Vegemite & Egg Toast ($13), Chicken Avo ($15), Frisky Barbara ($16), and Smashed Avo & Egg ($16.5). Each option is built around eggs, with sourdough bread and extras like avocado, ricotta, and turkey bacon.
For sandwiches served from noon, choices include Soy Garlic Chicken ($17), Salmon Teriyaki ($18), Grand Poobah ($18), Benny’s Cheesesteak ($18), and Pesto Mushroom ($16).
All come with sourdough and chips.
I started with the Soy Garlic Chicken Sandwich ($17) and found it very promising. (Did wonder why the extra egg was outside instead of inside.)
The first bite confirmed my expectations. The chicken tasted juicy and soaked up the soy garlic marinade, making each bite savoury without being too salty.
The sriracha mayo added just a bit of spice and tang, and the chicken floss on top gave a mild, sweet note that finished the sandwich nicely.
The corn chips on the side? Not a ‘wow’, but they do the job.
The burger line-up features Double Chez ($16), Pulled Beef ($16), Sloppy Benny Binge ($16), and Void Deck Burgs (seasonal, price on request), all served with brioche or hoagie roll and chips.
A mild case of greed led me to the Sloppy Benny Binge burger ($16).
Yums. The spiced chicken came through as tender and juicy, with the Cajun seasoning adding a gentle warmth rather than heat.
The fish skins surprised me with a brittle crunch and added an extra layer of texture.
As for the brioche bun, it stayed soft and slightly sweet, soaking up the juices without becoming too soggy. Messy, but satisfying.
They are still testing out their dessert menu.
The Tiramisu came stacked high with mascarpone. It was a hefty and creamy serving, probably too much for one, but perfect if you are nursing a heartbreak.
While the coffee-soaked ladyfingers did their job, some bits felt left out of the coffee bath.
Binge has personality. It is vibrant and playful, especially with its yellow accents and mural featuring a cheerful sandwich character.
Still, it is a place I would happily return to, especially on those days when I need some comfort, hearty burgers. Hope they have sides and fries some day.
