Is 216 Bedok Food Centre and Market one of the best places for a Curry Puff crawl in Singapore?
With What the Puff!, Chef Curry Puff, Delisnacks and more, you will find a few Curry Puff specialists in one hawker centre.
What the Puff now runs three outlets in Singapore.
Founded by young hawkers brothers Yuan Ming and Brandon Lim, along with friend Oh Chin Jie, they opened their first at Changi Village Hawker Centre, then expanded to Bedok 216 and The Commerze in Tai Seng.
The stall offers five main flavours. The original is the familiar chicken, potato, egg and curry combination priced at $2.
The rest includes Cheesey ($2), Sardine ($2), Char Siew Chicken ($2.50), and Black Pepper Chicken ($2.50).
This offering sits between hawker‑centre classics (like Hong Lim Curry PuffHong Lim Curry Puff which also offers sardine, yam, otah and more) and mall‑chain puffs from Old Chang Kee.
Each puff is made from scratch. The dough is rolled out and pleated by hand every day.
They cook no more than a few dozen per batch to keep crunch and quality higher.
When I picked the Original Curry Puff up, the pastry felt light and crisp, not oily at all.
I bit into it and got that satisfying crunch, which gave way to a soft, moist, and savoury filling that was pretty packed.
The potatoes were tender and well-seasoned, and the curried chicken brought some warmth and depth.
You could taste actual chicken in bite‑sized pieces.
As for the spice level, it was gentle on the gentle side, not too hot, which made it easy to enjoy.
What the Puff! stands out thanks to its youthful energy, clear purpose, and consistent quality.
Keep them on your radar next time you are on a Curry Puff search.

WhatThePuff at Bedok 216. I have left a feedback for the stall holder sometime ago regarding the puff. The puff is nicely knitted but with much less fills. The content is much less, not like the earlier days where both the fills and the knits are beautiful. Do not slack.don’t reduce quality. Thank you. This is 2nd time I am mentioning this.!
