[Fukuoka] What the FUK COFFEE? The name “FUK COFFEE” alone pulls you in.
Well, it doesn’t mean that. I know it’s cheeky and brings a bit of a laugh.
Turns out, FUK is just the airport code for Fukuoka.
The airport and travel theme carries through inside the café.
You see flight tags, passport stamps, and airport signage-style branding everywhere.
FUK COFFEE has a few locations in Fukuoka, including one near Canal City Hakata and another close to Ōhori Park (FUK COFFEE Parks).
I headed to the main Hakata outlet. It felt like a lounge for travellers who missed their flight but weren’t too fussed.
Coffee is the main game here. Drinks range from straightforward to inventive.
There’s Latte (¥630), Double Latte (¥690), Brown Sugar Latte (¥690), and Vanilla Latte (¥690).
They also serve special drinks like Espresso Ginger (¥600), Espresso Tonic (¥600), Café Mocha (¥710), Chai Latte (¥690), Matcha Latte (¥730), Hojicha Latte (¥730), and even Espresso Coke (¥600).
The surprise? Dessert. I didn’t go in expecting much, but the Custard Pudding (¥550) was clearly the draw.
It was a generous custard pudding topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, served swimming in a dark, glossy caramel sauce.
The texture was firm but silky, with just enough jiggle to make it satisfying.
The caramel was addictive, cutting through the sweetness with a touch of bitterness.
As the ice cream melted into the sauce, you got one rich, creamy mouthful.
The vibe is young, design-savvy, a bit Instagram-minded but not soulless. Staff are polite, efficient, not overly chatty.
If you’re in Fukuoka and fancy a sharp brew with a bit of character, it’s worth a heading down. Just don’t expect to stay long. Or to stop grinning at the name.
