Hello Arigato, the Japanese-inspired café known for its sando and chic ambience, has opened a new outlet in Tiong Bahru.

This Seng Poh Road outlet is its 5th, after Upper Thomson, Joo Chiat, Everton Park and Bukit Timah.

The Tiong Bahru outlet, much like its predecessors, offers a welcoming vibe with its modern, Nordic-inspired decor.

Strategic lighting and uncluttered spaces emphasise a clean and airy feel.

What I particularly like is the thoughtful arrangement of space that invites natural light to enhance the overall calming vibe.

The café serves a mix of familiar favourites and new, outlet-exclusive items that showcase their knack for marrying Japanese culinary aesthetics with local flavours.

Popular Sando include The Gyu Sando ($28) which offers a beef tenderloin katsu paired with caramelised sweet onion jam.

Other options are the Tamago Sando ($14) filled with Japanese egg mayo and tamagoyaki, Spam & Egg Sando ($16) with spam katsu and spiced tomato jam, Teriyaki Chicken Sando ($15) with fried glazed chicken thigh, and the Chicken Katsu Sando ($16) with pickled apples and slaw.

I decided to go for the outlet exclusive of Yuzu Honey Chicken Sando ($16) which combines crispy chicken thigh with a tangy yuzu honey mustard, complemented by baby romaine, sesame seeds, and creamy Kewpie mayonnaise.

I liked the slight zest of yuzu with the comfort of fried chicken.

The other exclusive is the CP Egg Sando ($15) with Cai Po (preserved radish) Dashi omelette paired with an over-easy egg and a touch of homemade Hae Bee Hiam (a mildly spicy dried shrimp sambal), adding a local Singaporean flair to the sandwich.

One of the drinks to look out for is the “Matcha Cloud” series paired with Uji matcha cold foam.

Options include the Coco Matcha Cloud ($5), combining 100% natural coconut water with matcha, and the Strawberry Matcha Cloud ($6), which blends strawberry milk with the same matcha foam.

This drink is popular for its vibrant layers, where the creamy richness of the matcha foam complements the refreshing sweetness of the strawberry. Not too sweet as well.

For coffee lovers, there’s the Coffee Matcha Cloud ($6) with double ristretto shots and milk.
