Curious what took over the Thambi Magazine Store spot at Holland Village?
It is now home to Sunday x MAVRX, a collaboration between Sunday Bedding and MAVRX Coffee.
A bit of an introduction for both: Sunday Bedding is a homegrown brand that has gained attention for its commitment to creating high-quality, eco-friendly bedding suited to the humid local climate.
MAVRX Coffee, with an original outlet at Great World, is known for artisanal brews in a straightforward, no-frills setting.
So, this space at Holland Road Shopping Centre is like a hybrid between a showroom and a quiet café.
The interior exudes warm cosiness with natural wood tones, soft lighting, and a subtle, earthy palette.
Sheets in gentle hues hang neatly along the walls, creating a serene backdrop that complements the cosy bed setup invitingly tucked into a quiet corner.
The MAVRX coffee counter, anchored by a sleek La Marzocco espresso machine, introduces a modern industrial touch.
A shared place to enjoy MAVRX’s signature coffees while doing some window-shopping for Sunday’s popular bedding.
The outlet is not considered huge (somewhat cramped if many customers walk in at the same time), but there are some seats on the outside.
Coffee choices include Espresso ($4.50), Macchiato ($4.50), Piccolo ($5.50), Long Black ($6.00), Latte ($6.50), Flat White ($6.50), Cappuccino ($6.50), Cortado ($6.70), and Mocha ($7).
MAVRX uses a house blend sourced from Brazil, Sumatra, Colombia, and Guatemala, known for its medium roast profile with hints of crisp apple acidity.
If you prefer something refreshing, go for the Espresso Tonic ($7.50) or Orange Black ($8.50).
The Espresso Tonic ($7.50) is a refreshing, fizzy drink topped with a slice of lime, which pairs well with the subtle notes of caramel and cocoa in MAVRX’s house blend.
For a light snack, there are Butter Croissants ($3.60), Chocolate Croissants ($4.10), Almond Croissants ($6.00), Banana Cake ($7.00), and Miso Pound Cake ($6.50).
Both brands share a commitment to sustainability. Sunday Bedding’s sheets are ethically produced with minimal environmental impact, and MAVRX follows a similar ethos in its coffee sourcing.
However, I do think there is room (pun not intended) for more synergy between the two brands.
The coffee and food offerings are largely similar to the Great World outlet, and some exclusives would make this store more special.
Like a Vanilla Dream Latte, floral Sunday Morning Cold Brew or something? Just a suggestion.
